There is cause for optimism among those still in the market for a DU place. The University of Delhi has launched its CSAS UG 2026-27 Spot Round 1, putting 13,433 vacancies on the table across 67 colleges. Admission.uod.ac.in is the only way to apply and the window is a narrow one, closing at 11:59 pm on August 24, 2026 for those without an existing admission.
Make no mistake, this round is binding. Should you be allotted a seat, you are required to accept it. The university will not countenance any attempt to upgrade or withdraw from that allocation. In fact, failure to accept means you forfeit your eligibility for any subsequent DU rounds.
Why this matters for students and colleges
Spot admissions are the mechanism by which unfilled capacity is put to use with qualified students in short order. To preserve stability for all parties, DU has also put a hold on withdrawals for the duration of this round.
The university has put out a word of caution that the numbers are subject to change as they get updated. ‘The vacant seats displayed are as of 23-08-2026 1:00 PM. You may see variation in the exact count owing to reconciliations, cancellations, grievance redressal and so on. Withdrawals will remain suspended during the Spot Round,’ the notice reads.
Vacancy snapshot across categories
One will find opportunities in every category. OBC-NCL is the most open with 4,133 seats. ST candidates have 2,476 to choose from and UR 2,113. There are 2,038 for SC and 1,791 for EWS applicants.
DU has also made community-specific seats available: 566 for Sikhs and 316 for Christians. It is advisable to look over what is on offer in your category on the dashboard before settling on a programme-college pairing.
Who can apply and what to prepare
Only registered CSAS UG applicants free of any admission as of August 22, 2026 are eligible. From the CSAS dashboard one must select ‘Spot Admission’ and limit choices to programme-college combinations where there is room in the relevant category.
A few rules bear repeating:
– Acceptance of an allotted seat is not optional
– No upgrading or withdrawing once allocated
– Disqualifying yourself from later rounds by non-acceptance
– A suspension of withdrawals for the spot round
Timeline and process ahead
With the schedule being what it is, some forethought is needed. Those who opt in by the deadline would do well to keep a close eye on post-allotment procedures to steer clear of disqualification.

– Spot allocation: August 25, 2026
– Seat acceptance: August 25-27, 2026
– College verification: 4:59 pm on August 28
– Fees are due by August 29, 2026

For the student who was passed over in earlier rounds or has their eye on a combination that has just become available, this could be the deciding factor. Given the 13,433 seats in 67 colleges and the firm timelines, well-informed and prompt action is called for.
