The aircraft left Ranchi Airport at 7:11 PM Indian Standard Time and was on the Ranchi to Delhi medical flight route. ATC records show the plane had regular contact with the next control centre, but asked to go another way, because of the weather. At 7:34 PM Indian Standard Time, radar and radio contact were lost with the plane while it was roughly 185 kilometres south-east of Varanasi. People in authority last saw the plane near Palamau, and then local news said it had crashed in thick forest in the Simaria part of Chatra district.
Who was in the air ambulance
As far as early information from aviation and local officials goes, there were seven people on board. The list of people on board reportedly had the patient – Sanjay Kumar, who had been treated for awful burns and was being moved to Delhi for better care – a doctor, a paramedic, two family, the pilot in charge, and the co-pilot. People at the local hospital said the patient, who was named as Sanjay Kumar, had been getting help for very bad burns and was going to Delhi to get a higher grade of care. A doctor and a paramedic were on the flight with the patient to look after him.
Searching, rescuing, and what local people did
Police and district administration groups have been sent out, but have had trouble getting to the place of the crash as it is deep in thick forest. Local officials said the land was far away, and this had made rescue and getting people back slower. The state authorities put emergency plans into action, and told security services and local administrations to make the search more intense. People on the ground said teams were working with people in aviation to work out exactly where the crash was and what state the plane was in.
Looking into what happened and what the rules say must be done
The DGCA said the plane had gone off radar and was sending a team from the AAIB to look into what caused it. The regulator also said that the normal ways of doing things were being followed, and a high-grade investigation would be started.
Search and rescue groups from the district administration are at the place the crash happened, and investigators are expected to make the site safe, get the flight recorders if they can, and look at the weather and what was said on the radio. Officials have not yet given a final number of people hurt or killed, or a clear reason for the crash.
Who ran the flight and what the plane was like
A Delhi company which does charter and air ambulance work was running the flight, using a Beechcraft plane which had the code VT-AJV. The company started work after getting its permission in 2019, and runs a small number of twin-engine planes and helicopters for charter and medical flights.
As part of the investigation, the investigators will look at the company’s records of keeping the plane in good order, the pilot’s training and what they had been doing, and the plane’s recent past. It is thought that changes to the route because of the weather and what was said to the control centres in the area will be at the centre of the first part of the investigation.
The authorities warned that details were still early, and asked people to be patient as the rescue and investigation groups worked in hard conditions. More news is expected as officials get to the site and do a first look.
