Meta got Moltbook, a small social network created for artificial intelligence agents, and will have the startup’s founders work in its AI research group. The purchase shows the industry is more and more trying to get both people and the systems needed as self-working agents go from test versions to actual use.
The Deal
Meta has said it is buying Moltbook and that co-founders Matt Schlicht and Ben Parr will go to Meta Superintelligence Labs. This group concentrates on basic agent research, and is headed by Alexandr Wang, who used to be the chief executive of Scale AI. The price was not made public.
