OnePlus have officially said the Nord CE 6 Lite is coming to India, and have highlighted the main features that really show it’s a ‘Lite’ phone. It’s being launched at 12pm on May 7th with that 144Hz screen, the 7,000mAh battery, a 50MP camera and OxygenOS 16. Now that we know the details of the phone, people are starting to wonder how much it will cost and when they’ll actually be able to get one.
Launch date, variants, and what is coming
The Nord CE 6 Lite launches in India on May 7th at 12pm and will come in Vivid Mint and Hyper Black.
Also launching on the same date is the regular OnePlus Nord CE 6. Separately, the OnePlus Pad 4 will be released in India on March 30th.
Display and performance details
The Nord CE 6 Lite has a 6.72-inch Full HD screen that can update up to 144 times a second (144Hz). OnePlus says the screen can change how often it updates between 1Hz and 120Hz, and go up to 144Hz when it needs to. They also say it can manage up to 144 frames per second in running games and 90 frames per second in popular shooting games.
Inside, the phone uses the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Apex processor with fast UFS 3.1 storage. OnePlus says it gets a score of over 1,030,000 in the AnTuTu test, and it has a 5,300 square millimeter cooling system to help it keep working well for a long time when you’re gaming or doing several things at once.
It’s also been built to last. The Nord CE t 6 Lite has MIL-STD-810H certification and can resist dust and splashes of water. However, OnePlus haven’t yet said what its official IP rating is (IP ratings tell you exactly how good something is at resisting water and dust).
Here are the key confirmed specs at a glance:
– 6.72-inch Full HD display, up to 144Hz
– MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Apex chipset
– UFS 3.1 storage configuration
– 5,300 mm2 VC cooling system
– MIL-STD-810H durability certification
Battery and charging
The phone is powered by a 7,000mAh battery, which is one of the biggest you can get in a phone like this. It charges at 45W with SUPERVOOC, which is designed to be good for the battery’s life and to give a steady charging speed rather than the fastest possible.
The phone also has ‘bypass charging’ – when you’re charging and playing a game, the power goes directly to the phone, which reduces heat and keeps the performance good for longer.
Cameras and software
The phone has a main 50MP camera on the back that can record videos in 4K, and an 8MP camera on the front for good selfies and video calls. OnePlus also say you can use ‘Motion Photos’ in 4K for smoother looking videos.
The phone comes with OxygenOS 16 which is based on Android 16. OnePlus say it doesn’t have any ads and has lots of features, including AI (artificial intelligence) tools on the phone itself. These AI tools are called AI Perfect Shot, AI Reflection Eraser, AI Detail Boost, AI Portrait Glow, AI Eraser and AI Reframe.
The phone also works with Google’s Gemini AI. This includes Gemini Live, which lets you share what’s on your screen or what the camera is looking at, and get help from AI in real time to understand what you’re looking at or to get advice about what the camera is showing.
How it compares with Nord CE 6
Both phones are being launched at the same time, but are different in their specifications. The Nord CE 6 has a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor, an 8,000mAh battery, and 80W charging (and it can charge other devices at 27W). It also has IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings, along with MIL-STD-810H.
In contrast, the Nord CE 6 Lite is more about a balanced experience with the Dimensity 7400 Apex, a 6.72-inch Full HD 144Hz screen, a 7,000mAh battery and 45W SUPERVOOC charging. It comes in Fresh Blue, Lunar Pearl, and Pitch Black (the CE 6) and Vivid Mint and Hyper Black (the Lite).
What to watch next
Now that the main details are out, we just need to know the price, when they’ll be on sale and how much storage you’ll get. OnePlus will tell us all this at the launch on May 7th.
If you want a really big battery, a fast screen and camera features that use AI and expect to pay a reasonable amount, the Nord CE 6 Lite is the one to keep an eye on.
