OnePlus has started to give hints about its Nord phones in India, and more recent leaks are giving us a clearer idea of what the Nord 6 will be like. Lots of people who leak information and a listing from a benchmarking site have revealed the main details of the phone; it’s going to be strong and long-lasting, rather than having hugely improved cameras.
Leaked highlights and what they mean
Specifically, the 6.78 inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate is a noticeable improvement in how smoothly things move on the screen compared to the Nord 5. It should have a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip, a very big battery and quick charging, all aimed at people who are heavy users and mobile gamers.
It’s expected to be available in Black, Mint and Silver. You’ll probably be able to get it with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, or 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, which fits with it being a fairly high-end mid-range phone.
Design and display details
That 6.78 inch 1.5K AMOLED screen should show clear, bright images even outside. The 165Hz refresh rate should make scrolling and playing games incredibly smooth, something you usually only get on more expensive phones.
We haven’t seen many details about the design in the leaks, but the three colors suggest a clean, up-to-date look. We can expect a screen that’s either flat or gently curved, very thin edges around the screen, and a Nord style that is comfortable to hold and is designed for performance.
Performance and benchmark results
A Geekbench listing (a test for phone performance) for a phone that people believe is the Nord 6 shows it has eight processing cores with a maximum speed of about 3.21 GHz, which matches the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. It got around 2,040 in a single-core test and 6,520 in a multi-core test, which is good for a phone in this price range.
Android 16 will likely be installed on it when you buy it, and the tested version had at least 12GB of RAM. These numbers suggest it will be very fast and responsive for everyday use, apps will open quickly, and you’ll be able to do lots of things at once without it slowing down, all without the cost of a top-of-the-line phone.
Battery and charging focus
Battery life is looking like a major selling point. The Nord 6 is expected to have a 9,000mAh battery, which some leaks call a Glacier Battery. This is a very large capacity and should last most people for several days between charges.
The phone should be able to charge at 80W using a cable, which will fill up that large battery much faster than a normal charger. This combination of a huge battery and fast charging makes the Nord 6 a good option for people who need their phone to last a long time.
Camera setup and storage options
The information about the camera is a little unclear. Some sources say it will have two cameras on the back with a 50MP Sony LYT 600 sensor (with image stabilization) and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. Other reports mention a 2MP extra sensor, so the details in the early leaks aren’t all the same.
Reports about the front (selfie) camera also vary, from 16MP to 32MP. If it is true that it’s moving from a 50MP front camera on the previous model, that would be a step down. However, the main rear camera and its stabilization are expected to stay the same. Storage options will probably be 8GB of RAM with 256GB of storage, and 12GB of RAM with 256GB of storage.
Launch timing, pricing expectations, and market positioning
One leak says it will be released in India in the first week of April, possibly on April 7th. The official price hasn’t been announced, but the price of the Nord 5 when it was released suggests the Nord 6 will be under 40,000 Indian Rupees. That means it will compete with phones like the iQOO Neo 10, Poco F7, and some recently released flagship phones that are cheaper.
It’s possible the phone is just a version of a model already sold in China, which could mean it becomes available more quickly. If the battery and screen details are correct, the Nord 6 will attract people who want the performance and excellent battery life of a flagship phone, but don’t want to pay flagship prices.
In general, the leaks about the Nord 6 emphasize how well it performs, how smoothly the screen works, and how long the battery lasts. People who are very interested in cameras probably won’t find huge improvements, but people who want a fast phone with a battery that goes on and on should pay attention to the official announcement.
