There’s been quite a stir over the Eetha teaser. We get our first look at a very pregnant Vithabai in a clip that doesn’t hold back. It was an exclusive for those in the cinema for Cocktail 2 before it made its way online, and for all the right reasons – the audacity of it, the feeling it puts across – it’s become the subject of much discussion.
Audience reaction drives early buzz
What started as a bit of a surprise in the theatre has moved fast to social media. People are raving about the way the film is put together and, of course, for what you have in front of you with Kapoor. Some who’ve put up their own footage say it has more heft to it than they thought, with a few even putting it down as a new direction for her.
You don’t have to look far on X to find the sentiment:
– ‘looks absolutely gorgeous!’
– ‘QUEEN IS BACK TO CLAIM HER THRONE ONCE AGAIN’
– ‘#Eetha teaser is powerful!’
– ‘serving serious main character energy’
The scene that stunned theatres
The teaser doesn’t so much warm you up as put you right in the thick of a moment in Vithabai’s life. Here is Kapoor, showing for a performance while she’s in the late stages of pregnancy, and then in labour.
She goes to the wings, has the baby, uses a stone to sever the cord and is back where she needs to be. The in-film crowd gives her a hand for her fortitude, and word is those in the audience for the teaser were just as moved by the rawness of it all.
Who is Vithabai Narayangaonkar?
If you know Tamasha, you know the name. Hailed as the Tamasha Samradini, she comes from a Pandharpur family troupe, the Bhau-Bapu Mang Narayangaonkar, put in place by her grandfather Narayan Khude. She was raised on Lavanya, Gavlan, the like, and in time had to be the one to carry the troupe when times were hard.
All the top awards didn’t make life any easier, though. She was given the President’s Award in 1957 and 1990 for what she did for Tamasha and Lavani, but you still have your share of struggles; it was donors who had to foot the bill for her after she passed.
Production notes, cast and release plan
Laxman Utekar has been with Chhaava, delving into the state’s past, and now with Eetha he’s on to a folk legend. He’s got Shraddha Kapoor in the lead and Randeep Hooda in the mix. Nana Patekar, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and Siddharth Jadhav are also part of the roster.
They’ve been on the ground in places like Madh Island, Solapur, Aundhewadi, Satara, Nashik and Bhor to give the film some verisimilitude. There was a point in a tough lavani number where Kapoor put her left foot out of commission – a fact that has only added to the talk of how much she’s put into this.
It’s a change of pace from Stree 2 in 2024, something with more of a pulse. For now the teaser is a theatrical thing, with an online version to come. The rest of Eetha follows on August 28, 2026.
Key details at a glance
What the makers have to offer in a nutshell:

– Hitting screens: August 28, 2026
– Teaser was with Cocktail 2 in cinemas
– Where we shot: Mumbai, Solapur, Aundhewadi, Satara, Nashik, Bhor
