In a way, the film is making a bigger, more vivid impression here in India. According to Sony and Qube, it is the inaugural Hollywood title for the EPIQ premium large format, and with EPIQ Luxon HDR you’re in for some contrast and brightness you don’t get anywhere else. Theatres open up for it on July 30, 2026.
We are talking about a release in a few different tongues and with the good stuff. You will find 2D, 3D and HDR versions on every one of the 12 EPIQ locations in the country. EPIQ made a point of it on social media, if only for a moment, to mark the occasion of their first Hollywood master.
Why the EPIQ milestone matters
It’s something to be proud of for a domestic brand that only got going in 2019. They have put on over 170 movies to date, but this is the first time a Hollywood picture has been prepped for the format in India. For the person in the seat, it means you are getting a show put together with EPIQ in mind.
Then again, it is a message to the studios. If the crowd is into it, EPIQ may well be in line for more of the big ones, and we’ll have a few more ways to go beyond the standard fare.
What exactly is EPIQ Luxon HDR?
It is the high-end side of EPIQ. The idea is to give you as much intensity as possible in every shot with a level of brightness and contrast that is hard to beat. It works for the kind of action and cityscapes you see in a web-slinging movie.
And there is more to an EPIQ room than just the HDR. We are talking 4K RGB laser, a proper Dolby Atmos setup, stadium-style seats and no one to get in your way. The screen is flat and large, for a reason.
How it differs from IMAX
They are both after the same thing, but not in the same way. With IMAX you have the proprietary gear and the like, and they will give you a wider view in certain scenes.
EPIQ doesn’t need any special cameras to make a film look its best. You still get the 4K and the sound, but it is a more open book for what can be shown. A very fine option for us in India.
Release plan, formats and locations
Sony and Qube have it down: the film will be in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. And in 2D, 3D or HDR, with the EPIQ version coming from the Luxon pipeline.
All 12 of their spots in India are on the list, from Coimbatore and Madurai to Chennai, Thanjavur, Calicut, Thrissur, Hyderabad, Pune and Sullurpet. (If you are in Hyderabad, AAA Cinemas is where you can try out an EPIQ Luxon right now.)
Here is the lowdown:

Cast, story setup and what to expect
Destin Daniel Cretton is at the helm, with Tom Holland in the red and blue. He is joined by Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Sadie Sink and Mark Ruffalo. The word is that Peter is at it full-time in a world that has no recollection of him, and the pressure of it is bound to put a crimp in his plans.
The suits are touting it. Shony Panjikaran from Sony says the tie-up is to give fans a little more to choose from, while Harsh Rohatgi of Qube has nothing but good things to say about the format’s looks and comfort.
For the die-hards, it is plain and simple. You have a spectacle of a movie being put in front of a system made to put it over the top. If the HDR and lasers do their job, the swings across the skyline won’t just be there; they will be on fire.
