The actor has had social media in a tizzy after he made it official: he and the likes of Dileesh Pothan are making a new Malayalam movie. Fresh off the success of Drishyam 3, Mohanlal put up a little moody video to let us know the wheels are turning. For the fans, it’s an event in itself.
He put the news out there on his timelines and with it came confirmation of a very strong creative side. It’s an Achu Baby John production, so you have some of the best in the business. No time at all passed before Nedumkandam Miracle was all over the place in fan circles, with plenty of good-natured musing to go around.
Some of the chatter
Put Pothan in charge of Mohanlal and you can be sure of the reaction. You’ll find people on X hailing it as a once-in-a-lifetime kind of thing. One put it well: ‘Dileesh and his Maheshinte touch? I’m clearing my schedule. Can’t wait for the miracle to happen.’ You get the feeling: these are the ones to be on top of.
It’s not as if we were in the dark about it. The makers will tell you that producers Antony Perumbavoor and Shibu Baby John had already put the cat out of the bag on a Mohanlal project being in the works, which is what made today’s news tick.
What the first look tells us
They don’t make it easy in the teaser. You see bits of a structure in the air, here and there a face or two. Then the image comes together and there’s Mohanlal in a doorway, doors open, but you can’t quite make out his expression.
It’s a no-nonsense visual style. They’re not here to give you the plot; they want you to have your say on what you think it means.
Who’s in the mix
If you read between the lines of Mohanlal’s post, you see a roll-call of some of the most decorated in the industry. This is who is on board:

The case for this film
Pothan has a way of making you expect a story with some heft to it. You only have to look at the acclaim for Maheshinte Prathikaaram and Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum – the latter has three National Awards and a couple of State honours to its name, for starters.
Then you add in the draw of Mohanlal and you have a picture with both class and appeal. Toss in Shyju Khalid and Saiju Sreedharan and you have a solid foundation.
On the production front and what else is in the cards
As for the nitty-gritty of the plot, the team is keeping quiet. We are told they will be shooting in Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai and Idukki, which says something about the scope of things.
Mohanlal has been busy with Jeethu Joseph’s Drishyam 3, now on Prime Video. He’s on set with Athimanoharam, Tharun Moorthy’s film with Meera Jasmine, due out on December 24, 2026.
There are also films in the offing with Vishnu Mohan and Priyadarshan. The one with the Oppam director has been put on hold for 2027 while they rework the script, so for the moment, the focus is here.
In short, you have a top-tier star and a director with a certain fire, and the first glimpse has whet the appetite. Judging by the tone of the promo, the miracle is on its way.
