On March 28th, Google showed off its interactive doodle to celebrate the 19th Indian Premier League, IPL 2026. The moving picture of a small cricket field, bat, and ball takes you to a special area with up-to-the-minute scores, detailed stats, and a way for fans to participate for the next couple of months.
Google Doodle and Interactive Portal
The doodle shows a little cricket ground with a bat and ball and asks you to click to get the full experience. When you do, the special area isn’t just showing what happened, but actually giving a changing analysis of each match.
You’ll be able to find out the live score, how each player is doing, and what AI thinks will happen. The goal of this area is to be the only place viewers need to go for understanding of the game, not just the number of runs and dismissals.
Tech Partnership with BCCI and Fan Experience
Google has an official agreement with the Board of Control for Cricket in India for IPL 2026. This official deal lets Google put its advanced searching and AI directly into the tournament.
Google is also a main sponsor on TV and online with JioStar, and it’s the only one in its category. This partnership is intended to make fans more enthusiastic with custom highlights and quicker access to what’s happening in the game.
Opening Match: RCB vs SRH Details
The current champions, Royal Challengers Bangalore, start defending their title at home against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The first game of the tournament is at 7:30 PM Indian Standard Time.
Rajat Patidar is the new captain of RCB, taking over after they won the championship last year for the first time. RCB hopes to continue doing well with a combination of players with a lot of experience and new, promising players.
Sunrisers Hyderabad will be led by Ishan Kishan as captain since Pat Cummins is unable to play because of an injury. The team will need to get used to being without their main bowler and work out new plans using the “Impact Player” rule.
The “Impact Player” rule will still be an important tactic this year and could change the direction of close matches. Coaches and captains will probably use this rule to replace players who are injured late in the game, to make the batting stronger, or to improve the bowling.
Tournament Format and Schedule Changes
IPL 2026 will have 84 games, up from 74, making it the biggest season yet. The games will go on for two months, ending with the final on May 31, 2026, at the same stadium in Bengaluru.
Games will be at the usual times, with afternoon games at 3:30 PM Indian Standard Time and evening games at 7:30 PM Indian Standard Time. Because of the longer schedule, there will be more hours of broadcasting and more information available for looking at the numbers and keeping fans involved.
Safety, Tribute, and Operational Notes
The usual opening ceremony has been cancelled out of respect after a terrible accident last year where people were crushed. During this season, eleven seats at the stadium will be left empty forever to remember those who died.
People running the tournament have said they’ve made safety much stronger and changed how things are done to make sure something like that doesn’tal happen again. Fans are being asked to follow the rules of the stadium, get to the stadium early, and use official websites and apps for tickets and information.
Google’s interactive doodle and the AI-improved special area come at an important time for the IPL, combining technology and sports. As RCB and SRH play in Bengaluru, fans around the world can expect to get to the details and the story of each match more quickly and completely.
