What the story is and what it’s about
The story is about Prashanthi, a young woman brought up in a home with old-fashioned and strong male ideas, and who is forced into marriage with Omkar – after being abused by a college teacher – who at first says he will help her, but then becomes violent. As the abuse gets worse, Prashanthi secretly learns karate and in the end fights back. The film looks at ideas of dignity, fighting back, and the social pressure women feel as they deal with what their families and communities expect of them.
Who is in it, who made it, and details of how it was made
Tharun Bhascker and Eesha Rebba are the main actors, with Brahmaji, Sivannarayana Naripeddi, Surabhi Prabhavathi, and Goparaju Vijay also in the cast. A.R. Sajeev directed the film, and also did the editing and helped write it. The story comes from an original by Vipin Das, and the dialogue is by Nanda Kishore Emani. Jay Krish wrote the music, Deepak Yaragera did the photography, and the film was made by S Originals and Movie Verse Studios.
What people have said about it and what to expect on streaming
Critics gave different views on the Telugu remake. Some people praised Tharun Bhascker for the way he spoke, and Eesha Rebba for being confident in her acting, but other reviewers felt that the film didn’t have the same emotional strength as the Malayalam original. Watching the film on streaming gives people the chance to make up their own minds. You can expect a mix of dark humour and serious drama, with a story which goes from light moments to more strong arguments as Prashanthi takes control of her life. Last piece of advice for viewers: if you are interested in social dramas or films which are driven by what the actors do, Om Shanti Shanti Shantihi might be worth watching on streaming. The online showing makes it easy to stop, think, and go back to important scenes which show what the film is saying about self-respect and fighting back.
