Priyanka Chopra states she didn’t actually want to leave Bollywood – the Hindi film industry – but came to feel she had to look at what was available outside of it. She’s said that she felt ‘held back’ as an actress, and that how the industry operated made her want to find chances to develop and try new things. This choice changed the course of her career internationally.
What Priyanka Said About Leaving Bollywood
Priyanka has made clear she didn’t plan to give up Indian movies. She was unhappy with the kinds of parts she was offered and how things were done in the industry and wanted to broaden what she could do creatively. Because of this, she went after jobs in other countries that she thought would be good for her as an actress and help her become better. She also says it wasn’t quick, but took a long time. She states that after almost twelve years of working in both industries, she at last has the ability to choose work that really appeals to her. Getting to this point of being able to select what she does hasn’t been easy.
Hollywood Career and Important Work
Her work for international audiences has included television and being in a series of movies which made her more well-known abroad. Being in a well-known drama series helped get her roles in movies and streaming shows, and she then acted in a number of American films – in the genres of action, drama and romance. Although her last Hindi film came out in 2019, the films she has done in Hollywood show she isn’t afraid to try different things and take chances. She has done both big studio movies and films that focus on the characters, and this has made her a star who can work across borders and be the main person in English-language films.
Problems in the Indian Film Industry
Priyanka has talked openly about the issues she had in India, mentioning that people who weren’t already in the industry didn’t have much support, and families who had been in the industry for generations already had an advantage. She said she had to work really hard for opportunities and couldn’t count on the help with production that other people often got. She also told of a time when she felt trapped by the way the industry’s politics and disagreements between people worked. She explained that this situation took away the pleasure she got from her work, and made her decide to look for work elsewhere.
Going Back to Indian Films with Varanasi
Having spent several years on projects for a world audience, Priyanka is going back to Indian films with a major production from South India. She says this is very exciting and would not want to be forced to choose between Indian and international work, as she likes both industries. She points out that working with different cultures has made her more creative. Now, she can change how she works for different ways of making films; she says being involved in both worlds gives her unique professional freedom and a larger number of stories she can tell.
Doing Stunts and Her Work on The Bluff
In a recent action film, she did most of her own stunts, and accepted the physical pain that comes with doing that. She said cuts, bruises, a damaged knee, and getting bumped on the head sometimes were part of the job when filming in real places. This film was done in difficult conditions and used effects that were done practically – including working outside in places far from towns and cities, and working with people who looked after animals to make sure everyone was safe. The role challenged her physically and as an actress, and shows how willing she is to take risks for performances that feel real. Priyanka Chopra has made a career out of wanting to do well and being able to change. Whether dealing with industry politics, taking on projects for international audiences, or going back to Indian films, she shows herself to be an artist who wants to grow, not to be limited. Her life shows how complicated a worldwide acting career is, and her promise to choose roles that are a challenge for her.
