Alia Bhatt Joins Cillian Murphy, Kate Hudson as BAFTA 2026 Presenter

Alia Bhatt - it's been made definite she will be a presenter at the 2026 BAFTAs; she's with a varied group of people, Cillian Murphy and Kate Hudson among them. That she's to be there stresses how much more of a global force Indian film is becoming. The Manipuri movie Boong is at the show too, having been put forward for the best children's and family film award.

Alia Bhatt is to present at the seventy-ninth EE BAFTA Film Awards, happening February 22nd, 2026, at the Royal Festival Hall, London. The actress announced this on Instagram, by sharing the official BAFTA announcement, and with the teasing message, ‘100 points if you can spot me.’

A line-up of famous presenters

BAFTA let people know of a large, international group of guest presenters, which shows how far around the world this year’s awards go. As well as Alia Bhatt, Cillian Murphy, Kate Hudson, and Glenn Close are among those who will present – plus many more from film and TV. The complete list of presenters has both people who are already well-known, and those who are newer to the scene: Alicia Vikander, Bryan Cranston, Sadie Sink, Patrick Dempsey, Delroy Lindo, Emily Watson, Ethan Hawke, Gillian Anderson, Monica Bellucci, Rege-Jean Page, Riz Ahmed, and Stellan Skarsgard. The variety in the list means a focus on different voices in the world of film.

Alia Bhatt’s use of social media and how well-known she is

Alia shared BAFTA’s announcement on her Instagram, and her story, and asked her followers to try and find her in the list, as a fun thing to do. Sharing it like this shows how her global fame is increasing, and how stars now use social media to make the most of awards season. Being a BAFTA presenter will give Indian artists more attention on a big platform. Also, fans will get to see Alia with actors from all over the world, which shows that she is popular in both Indian films, and is getting praise from other countries.

Indian films and ‘Boong’

Alia being a presenter comes at a time when other Indian films and people who make them are also at the awards. Lakshmipriya Devi, the director, will be there with ‘Boong’ – a film in the Manipuri language, which has been put forward for the best children’s and family film award. ‘Boong’ is about a young boy in Manipur who is planning a surprise for his mother. ‘Boong’ is made by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, of Excel Entertainment, and is up against films like ‘Lilo & Stitch’, ‘Zootopia 2’ and ‘Arco’. That it has been put forward shows that films from areas of India, and films which are not in English, are being more and more recognised by awards around the world.

Alia’s recent awards history

Alia presenting at the BAFTAs follows other Indian actors who have been on the BAFTA stage in the last few years, making a pattern of more people from India being represented. This shows that award shows are more and more willing to include a wider range of voices and markets in film. Alia appearing with global actors who are up for awards, and presenters, shows how people in film work together across countries, and how international film is in 2026. It shows how actors can use awards shows to help their projects, and their careers, in countries other than their own.

Future films and her career

Bhatt is still busy working on major films. She is at the moment filming ‘Alpha’ for Yash Raj Films, and is acting with Sharvari and Bobby Deol – it is expected to come out later in the year. That film could make her even more important in commercial film. She is also in ‘Love And War’, which is being directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and also stars Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. Plans for when it will be made and released may change, but the film will keep Alia in the news, and shows that her career is going well.

What to expect at the 2026 BAFTAs

The awards will have a strong group of people who are up for awards, and will be there: Jacob Elordi, Leonardo DiCaprio, Timothee Chalamet, Chloe Zhao, Emma Stone, Benicio Del Toro, Jesse Plemons, Paul Thomas Anderson, and Rose Byrne are among those who are expected. Their being there promises good moments on the red carpet, and on stage. With presenters like Alia Bhatt, and Cillian Murphy and Kate Hudson, the BAFTA Awards 2026 are hoping to mix being important in terms of what is good in film, and being popular with a lot of people. The event will probably show international film, praise different types of stories, and be a showcase for people who are well-known, and those who are new to the scene.
