It is an unprecedented level of visibility for a candidate’s performance. When NBEMS puts the provisional key in the public domain this coming September 10, it will be more to students than a simple score estimate; it represents a move toward open evaluation as called for by the Supreme Court.
Why this release matters
Concerns had been raised about the conduct and evaluation of the exam, prompting the Supreme Court to order on April 29, 2025 that NBEMS put forward the normalisation formula, raw scores and answer keys for NEET PG.
NBEMS has since followed up, issuing a notice in August 2025 on the matter of releasing recorded responses and keys which has altered the way candidates are able to audit their results. For the 2026 cycle, the board has confirmed it will share via applicant login the question ID numbers, correct answers, response sheets and the score for each question under the marking scheme.
What candidates should do now
Students would be well advised to have their responses in order to review as soon as the key is live. The official portals will provide access, and one can get an accurate read on the score by downloading the response sheet in tandem with the key.
The bulletin is clear on the procedure: ‘Each question asked in the question paper of NEET-PG 2026 shall be reviewed by faculty members from the concerned speciality area after the conduct of NEET-PG 2026 to re-check for technical correctness of the questions as well as answer keys.’ Should any question be deemed ambiguous or technically incorrect upon such review, full marks are to be given to all candidates.

How to access the NEET PG 2026 answer key

The 2026 exam took place in a single shift between 9 am and 12:30 pm on August 30. Of the 2,73,096 who registered, 2,65,980 made it to one of the 1111 test centres set up across the country.
Some 2,63,535 were able to finish the paper. A re-examination was put in the books for September 5, running from 3 pm, for those in Jaipur at the Sitapura centres who were hampered by internal power failure.
What this means for colleges and trainees
