OnePlus has put in some work to close the gap between their users and the Apple side of things. The new OnePlus 15 is coming with support for Quick Share that lets you put photos, video and docs on an iPhone, iPad or Mac without any loss in quality or having to use a third-party fix. We are seeing it roll out in pieces for now.
Why this matters for everyday users
It makes life a bit easier. As long as your 15 and Quick Share are up to date, you can pass files back and forth with Apple devices in much the same way you would with AirDrop. You’ll be able to make a quick handoff at the office or share something at home, and you won’t have to email a file to yourself to get it over there.
If you like to run a Mac or an iPad but are an Android person, this is a good thing. It eases some of the lock-in. For anyone looking for an Android with some heft who still has to be in the Apple world for work, the 15 is more of an option than before.
How to start sharing
Quick Share and AirDrop are on the same page now. On the OnePlus end, you don’t have to do much other than make sure the app is current. The phone will find what’s nearby and the transfer is local, so no need for the cloud or any other tools to get in the way.
You do have to be mindful of the settings on the Apple side. When you’re ready to go, make sure your iPhone, iPad or Mac has AirDrop on “Everyone for 10 minutes” so the 15 can pick it up.
To get the ball rolling:
– Make sure Quick Share is on the latest version
– Turn on AirDrop visibility (Everyone for 10 minutes)
– Have both devices open and in range
– Go ahead and share, no cloud apps needed
Rollout status and first sightings
We’ve had some reports from users that the feature is live on a few of the 15s, and we should see more of them with it. A number of forum threads point to it being in a test phase, with a wider release on the way.
Chances are you’ll have it if you don’t already. These kinds of system updates are usually done in stages, and the early ones are vouching for it.
Which OnePlus phones are in the running
Right now, it’s the 15. That is the only one we have confirmation for when it comes to AirDrop through Quick Share. The 13 and the rest of the older flagships are not on the list.
Some will say it’s a way to get you to part with more money for the newest model. We may see other phones added down the line, but nothing is set in stone yet.
The bigger Android-Apple picture
Google has been after this kind of interoperability for a while. They made it happen with the Pixel 10 in 2025, then it went to Samsung, and now it’s here on the 15, as OnePlus said they would do back in the day.
The 15 is able to put high-quality files over to the Apple camp with no extra software. For a lot of people, that takes away the last good reason not to have an Android and an Apple in the same room.
What comes next
As the testing winds down, you can expect to see it more. Just stay on top of your updates on the 15 and give your Apple device’s AirDrop a look before you send anything over.
Should OnePlus open this up to more of its lineup, it will be a nice change of pace for those of us with a mix of tech at home or in the office. For now, though, the 15 is where it’s at for cross-platform sharing from the brand.
