Vivo and Google have released really good mid-range phones for under 50,000 Rupees – the Vivo V70 and the Google Pixel 10a – and which one is better for you depends on what you want in a phone, like the screen, camera, how fast it is, and how much it costs. This looks at the main differences between the two to help you work out which phone is best for what you need.
Screen and Design
The Vivo V70 has a 6.59-inch VM9 AMOLED screen, which refreshes at 120Hz and gets incredibly bright, up to 5,000 nits. This is great for using it outside in bright sun and for videos with HDR. Vivo also uses aerospace-quality aluminium for the frame, and the phones are IP68 and IP69 rated, meaning they are very tough. The Pixel 10a has a 6.3-inch Actua pOLED screen, also at 120Hz, but it’s not quite as bright, reaching around 3,000 nits. The Pixel 10a’s screen has Corning Gorilla Glass 7i for protection. The smaller screen is good if you want to use it in one hand and gives it a more compact feel than the bigger V70. Vivo also includes a 3D Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner 2.0 to unlock the phone quickly, even if your fingers are wet. The V70 is made to feel top-end and be durable, whilst the Pixel 10a wants to look neat and small and have reliable glass protection.
Cameras and What They Can Do
Vivo is selling the V70 as a phone for people who like taking photos, and has optics tuned by ZEISS. It has three cameras on the back: a 50MP main camera with OIS (optical image stabilisation), a 50MP super-telephoto periscope camera with OIS, which can zoom 3x optically and up to 100x digitally, and an 8MP ultrawide camera. The camera on the front is a 50MP Group Selfie camera with autofocus and a wide 92-degree field of view. Google puts a dual rear camera on the Pixel 10a: a 48MP main camera with OIS, a 13MP ultrawide, and a 13MP camera on the front. Pixel phones are still very good at using software to improve photos and getting colours right all the time, while Vivo is going for more hardware options, better zoom, and ZEISS photo modes like Multifocal Portrait and AI Stage Mode. Vivo is clearly the better choice for long-distance shots and being able to zoom. For photos you can just point and shoot, good software for low light, and the colours you expect from Pixel, the Pixel 10a is still a good option.
How Fast They Are, Software, and Security
Inside, the Vivo V70 has a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 SoC with up to 12GB LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. The V70 Elite has a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset for more demanding games and jobs. Vivo’s phones come with OriginOS 6, which is based on Android 16, and Vivo promises updates for a number of years. The Pixel 10a runs on Google Tensor G4, with a Titan M2 security chip, and has 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. Tensor G4 is good at things using AI, voice and processing images, and Titan M2 makes the phone more secure. If you want the best numbers in speed tests, the V70 (especially the Elite) is quicker. If you want Android as Google intended and to be safe, the Pixel 10a is good.
Battery, Charging, and How They Are In Practice
Vivo puts a 6,500 mAh battery in the V70, and 90W FlashCharge, which means it will last a long time and charge very quickly. This large battery works well with the bright, fast AMOLED screen for a long time using videos. The Pixel 10a’s battery isn’t detailed here, but Google usually makes power use efficient with software and Tensor. Pixel phones are more about steady performance all day, helped by software, than very fast charging.
Cost, Versions, and What This Means
The Vivo V70 starts at Rs 45,999 for 8GB RAM + 256GB storage and Rs 49,999 for 12GB RAM + 256GB storage. The V70 Elite is more expensive, with top-end chips and more expensive memory. The Google Pixel 10a costs Rs 49,999 for 8GB RAM + 256GB storage. If you want a bigger, brighter screen, a long-lasting battery, a powerful telephoto camera, and photos tuned by ZEISS, choose the Vivo V70. If you want a smaller phone with Google’s Android, Tensor G4 AI features and a focus on security and software updates, choose the Pixel 10a. Both are good value for under 50,000 Rupees, and what you want will decide which is better.
