Xiaomi has started to give hints about the Xiaomi 17 Max in China, and it’s coming out later this month. The company calls it a ‘fully upgraded’ Xiaomi 17, and it’s for people who want a big screen, very quick charging, and a fantastic camera system all at once, without anything being sacrificed.
Why it could change your daily use
The screen and being easy on your eyes seem to be the main focus. Xiaomi has said it will have a 6.9 inch flat screen with very thin edges making reading, playing games, and watching videos more engaging. Abhishek Yadav, a tech tipster, thinks it will also have 3,840Hz PWM dimming which should reduce strain on your eyes when you use it for a long time.
You probably won’t worry so much about the battery running out. Rumors suggest an 8,000mAh battery with 100W charging with a wire and 50W wireless charging. If these details are correct, you’d get all day use and be able to quickly charge it.
Xiaomi has begun taking pre-orders in China, and teasers are on their Chinese website and on Weibo. The pictures of the design show a simpler shape than the Ultra version, showing the Max will have its own look.
Here is what Xiaomi has confirmed so far:
– Launch in China later this month
– 6.9-inch flat screen with slim bezels
– New rear camera island design
– Black, blue, and white colours
What leaks point to
The specifics of the screen are still the biggest thing we don’t know. Abhishek Yadav says the screen could be a 2K OLED LTPO flat display that can get to 3,800 nits brightness, and it will be covered by Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0. Other rumors mention a 1.5K LTPO screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. Either way, it will be as good as any top-of-the-line phone.
Performance and imaging
Inside, the Xiaomi 17 Max is expected to have Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. It will likely have LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, and the Adreno 840 will handle the graphics. This combination is meant for doing a lot of things at once, gaming, and quickly editing photos.
The cameras might be the biggest improvement. Rumors say it will have a 200 megapixel Samsung HP9 main sensor with image stabilization (OIS), a 50 megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 50 megapixel 3x periscope telephoto for zooming. It’s expected to have a 32 megapixel camera on the front for selfies and video calls.
If these details are right, that collection of cameras will handle normal pictures, large views, and zoomed-in shots without needing to change to a different camera. The image stabilization on the 200 megapixel sensor will also help with pictures in low light or of things that are moving.
Design, durability, and everyday extras
Xiaomi’s teasers show a camera section on the back that’s rounded at the corners, unlike the large round section on the Xiaomi t7 Ultra. It will be available in black, blue and white, and is said to have a metal frame to make it feel more luxurious.
Some useful additions finish off what people think it will be like. The phone is rumored to be IP68 rated for protection from dust and water, and it will have two stereo speakers for louder, clearer sound. A 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner under the screen and an IR blaster are also expected, meaning you can unlock it securely and use it as a remote control.
Launch window and lineup context
The Xiaomi 17 Max will be the sixth phone in the Xiaomi 17 series. The series already includes the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and the Leica Leitzphone. Lu Weibing, President of Xiaomi Group, has said the new phone is a ‘fully upgraded’ version of the regular Xiaomi 17.
That description suggests it will be more than just bigger; it will have real improvements to the screen, battery, and cameras. Because you can already reserve it in China, we should have all the details at the launch later this month.
