BJP Counters Rahul Gandhi on COEMPT Allegations, Accuses Him of Hypocrisy and Propaganda

BJP leaders are calling out Rahul Gandhi for what they see as hypocrisy and propaganda in the COEMPT row, with some wondering if Congress has been using the vendor all along. The row is over whether or not the firm was also in the fold of Congress-led governments. The BJP wants an explanation from Gandhi, pointing to deals made with institutions they run.

There’s been a concerted effort by the BJP to put back at Rahul Gandhi on this, labelling his stance as disingenuous and putting a stop to any riling up of students. It all started when Gandhi put out word that a disreputable company was being given preferential treatment for CBSE’s digital work, and now it has become a matter of who can be believed.

You have to ask: did Congress administrations make use of the very same vendor Gandhi is after? The BJP says yes, and they have the papers to show it from under their own watch, which is their way of turning the tables on the Opposition’s version of events.

What set them at odds

The Leader of Opposition made a claim on May 27th that the CBSE had no qualms about giving its on-screen evaluation to a Hyderabad outfit he deems to be of poor repute. He was talking about Coempt Eduteck Pvt. Ltd., or as the BJP puts it, COEMPT Edutech.

The BJP didn’t let it go. Their line of questioning is simple: if the vendor is so bad, why were you using them in 2023-25? They see it as more than one contract; it’s a habit across states where the Congress is in power.

The other side of the story

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has put on record that a number of institutions in Congress territories have done business with the Hyderabad firm. He has pointed to work orders and contracts with the likes of Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru City University, Adikavi Sri Maharshi Valmiki University and Karnataka University in Dharwad, all in the 2023-25 period.

“Rahul Gandhi should get it: making wild claims with no substance only shows you up,” was the message in a tweet from Rijiju, where he called for some clarity on why the company was being lauded in Telangana and signed on to by Congress-run bodies.

The BJP’s list of questions

Rijiju has three for Rahul Gandhi to answer:
– Why the work orders from your institutions?
– What about the agreements in Telangana and Karnataka?
– And why was the Telangana State Health University so open in its praise for the company?

Heated words from the top

Delhi’s CM Rekha Gupta has no time for what she sees as lies and muddying the waters. “We know how Rahul Gandhi does politics: lie, then confuse, and when the truth is out, talk of conspiracies and leave,” she wrote. She has no patience for what she calls an un-fact-based approach to education from the Congress.

Then there is Rajasthan’s Bhajanlal Sharma, who is fed up with half-truths being used to spook students. “Is he going to put his own state governments on trial as well?” he asked. “Don’t think you can make our youth into pawns for your propaganda.”

Malviya makes his point

Amit Malviya, head of the BJP’s information wing, says Gandhi has put spin before the facts. His view is that if the firm was as bad as he says, you wouldn’t find it in the project files of a Congress university.

To prove it, Malviya has laid out the paperwork: an agreement with the Kaloji Narayana Rao University (September 2024), one with Bengaluru City (November 2025), and others with Adikavi Sri Maharshi Valmiki in Raichur and Karnataka University, Dharwad.

He also has a work order from June 2023 from the Telangana State Health University, which he says even put a plug for the company on its site. He is left to wonder if Congress simply didn’t do their due diligence, or if this is a case of selective outrage against the Centre.

Where we go from here

The BJP is quick to say this isn’t about being a friend to any vendor, but about holding people to account. Malviya has put it to Gandhi in so many words: “If they were so unacceptable, why keep doing business with them?”

It is a live issue for any parent or student in the CBSE system. Now we will see if Gandhi is willing to meet the BJP on the evidence they have put forward, or if he is going to stand by his indictment of the Centre.
