Ayushmann Khurrana has started a whole new complicated world of relationships, and it’s a delightful mess. The short preview of the movie puts him right in a lot of trouble with Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet Singh and Wamiqa Gabbi, and Vijay Raaz plays a policeman who loves causing problems almost as much as Ayushmann does.
The pativerse opens with triple trouble
The preview starts with someone speaking in a dry, amusing way saying that a husband’s habits are the only thing that don’t change. Then we see Ayushmann looking shocked by a surprising visitor at work, and he finds himself in a whirlwind of confusing signals, quick looks and mistakes that are likely to be very costly.
Pretty quickly, a series of scenes show Ayushmann having a romantic relationship with Sara Ali Khan, Wamiqa Gabbi and Rakul Preet Singh. Each relationship makes things more complicated. It’s all done with a playful attitude and a very fast pace, flirting with disaster while suggesting the kind of crazy, old-fashioned comedy we love, but adapted for now.
Ayushmann Khurrana’s comic mojo is front and center
Ayushmann is the perfect man to get into romantic difficulties. As Prajapati Pandey, he really leans into being confused and uses a charming, frustrated style. He’s good at saying he’s sorry and making up plans on the spot, and his puzzled expressions get the biggest laughs.
The preview is more about how quickly things happen than about the story itself, but Ayushmann’s excellent timing makes the basic idea work. Even in short glimpses, you can see all the pieces of the farcical situation falling into place. There’s romance, there’s panic, and then there’s that great moment when everything starts to fall apart all at once.
Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet Singh, and Wamiqa Gabbi stir the plot
The three women are truly the driving force. Sara is playfully lively and easily throws Ayushmann off balance. Rakul is sophisticated and gives the impression of being clever and making shrewd decisions. Wamiqa is warm, but with a hint of being unpredictable.
They all together create a complicated situation with many people involved and lots of misunderstandings. The preview doesn’t tell us much about their backgrounds, but it does show how well they work together. You can expect people to change who they’re loyal to, messages to get mixed up and at least three different versions of what’s going on at any one time.
Vijay Raaz as the cop who sees through everything
Just as everything is getting out of control, Vijay Raaz appears as a police officer who can spot trouble from a long way off. His very serious way of speaking cuts through the romance very accurately. You can almost hear everyone nervously swallowing as he starts to ask all the important questions.
In one scene, Ayushmann and all three women are tied together, which clearly shows things are completely falling apart at the end. Vijay Raaz’s presence suggests that they will be questioned, their explanations will fail, and the ending will involve common sense finally being heard…or maybe not. Either way, we’re sure to get lots of laughs.
A spiritual sequel with a modern edge
Pati Patni Aur Woh and is calling itself a ‘spiritual sequel’, not a remake. And this is important. The preview acknowledges the classic “husband-wife-other woman” story, but expands it with a faster, more disrespectful approach. Think bigger problems, quicker editing and a knowing nod to social media.
Even the term ‘pativerse’ shows what they are aiming for. This isn’t a story about right and wrong; it’s a very difficult comedy about acting on impulse, being full of yourself and the messes people create when they think they can have more than one romance at a time. The humour is deliberately chaotic, and that’s the intention.
Release date, cast, and what to expect
The movie will be in cinemas on May 15, 2026. Mudassar Aziz is the director, which is a good fit for the lively pace and tone that the preview suggests. Ayushmann Khurrana, Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet Singh and Wamiqa Gabbi are the main actors, with Vijay Raaz being a standout.
Also in the movie are Tigmanshu Dhulia, Vishal Vasistha, Guneet Singh, Durgesh Kumar, Ayesha Raza Mishra, Shireesh Kumar Sharma and Deepika Amin. This wide range of actors suggests that there’s a world around the main story that has its own smaller stories, without taking attention away from the main plot.
What people are saying online is all about the energy of the movie. People are happy to see a story style they enjoy coming back, but with a lot more comedy. Some are discussing whether having three women involved is a good addition or a problem. The fact that people are even talking about it is likely to make people want to see the movie before it comes out.
You should expect a cheerful romantic comedy that’s also a bit like a clever crime story. Expect situations that start off innocently and then turn into something amazing. And you should expect Ayushmann, stuck in a corner and still charming, to try to talk his way out of his fate while a very patient policeman watches the whole thing with a smile.
In short, the preview for Pati Patni Aur Woh 2 promises a lot of fun. If the full movie has the same rhythm as the preview, we’re in for a bubbly summer comedy based on misunderstandings, very attractive stars, and a ‘pativerse’ that just won’t settle down.
