At a wedding farewell in Budaun, Uttar Pradesh, a dog with no owner began biting many people – over sixty in all. This caused a lot of new worry about safety in public and how animals are controlled. Officials said the event on Monday created panic, and families were quickly looking for medical help and explanations.
What happened at the Budaun wedding
The attack happened at the Abhinandan banquet hall on Bilsi Road, which is within the area covered by the Bisauli police station. The dog went into the building during the part of the wedding where the bride says goodbye, and started biting everyone around it.
People who saw it happen described something like a sudden rush of a large group of people. Women and children yelled and ran to get away, and a number of them fell and were injured while trying to escape.
Panic spreads beyond the venue
After all the confusion inside the hall, the dog went out onto the road and attacked people walking by and store owners. Then it ran toward a close village and, according to people there, it bit cows.
People in the area said the series of attacks made the whole neighborhood nervous. Lots of people stayed inside their homes and asked authorities to do something right away.
Victims across ages
Manisha, Pooja, Vijay Pratap, Kanchan, Pinki, Ramesh, Madan Lal, Sunita and Chandravati were among those who were bitten.
Medical response and numbers
The injured people were taken to the health center in Bisauli. They were given shots to prevent rabies and then allowed to go home. Some of them also went to private hospitals for treatment.
Arvind Verma, the doctor in charge at the Bisauli health center, stated 109 people signed up for rabies treatment on Monday, and approximately 60 of those bites were from the dog at the banquet hall.
Key figures and developments reported so far include:
– Over 60 injuries linked to the wedding venue
– 109 total anti-rabies registrations on Monday
– Some victims treated at private hospitals
– Dog reportedly still roaming, locals claimed
Anger over municipal response
The attack made people in the area angry and scared. Locals say the city government has been careless in controlling stray dogs and are asking for definite changes to be seen.
Locals say money is being used for managing stray dogs, but they aren’t seeing any quick reactions. They also claim the dog that did the biting continued to wander around even after multiple complaints were made about it.
Officials promise action
Arun Kumar, the Additional District Magistrate, said he’s told the main employee of the Bisauli city government to take the necessary steps. He also said this problem needs to be taken care of as soon as possible.
Officials have said they know what the public is worried about. Residents are now hoping for a fast response to stop something like Monday’s event from happening again.
Why the incident matters
The attack in Budaun has brought a lot of attention to how stray dogs are managed and how quickly the authorities respond when something happens at a large gathering. The panic at the family celebration, followed by attacks on the street, has made people all over the neighborhood much more anxious.
While those who were hurt continue to get care, the city government needs to act. Residents who are worried will be watching for quick and obvious action.
