The Pova 8 5G is here in India and Tecno’s message is simple: we’ve put together a device with power, a bit of flair, and the stamina to last. The 8,000mAh battery is the star, but there’s also a 50MP Sony LYTIA 600 camera and the customisable Alive Matrix on the back to make it something you’ll want to see on the shelf and in your hand.
It’s for the ones of you who are tired of missing calls because the phone was face down, or don’t like having to top up in the middle of the day. In a mid-range space that’s hard to break through, Tecno is putting its money on good looks and long life to make a case for this one.
Battery and the flashy back
Take the Alive Matrix Display for instance. It’s a light panel capable of 49 different animations for when you’re on a call, getting a notification, or in the middle of a game. You can make it your own, or just use it to see what’s going on without having to turn the phone over.
Then there’s the 8,000mAh cell and 45W fast charge. Tecno says you can go two full days before you need to plug in. They put it in numbers: 85+ hours of music, 29+ on YouTube, or 14+ if you’re into Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.

Some more of their endurance figures for a quick look:
– 1,198.1 hours of standby at most
– 39.5 hours of talk time
– 17.77 hours for video
Alive Matrix in daily use
This isn’t all for show. The panel on the back can be set to react to different kinds of alerts so you can deal with them in a second. Gamers will like the extra visual, and for anyone with a lot on their plate, it means you won’t as easily miss a cue when the phone is lying flat.
Performance and connectivity
You’re looking at a MediaTek Dimensity 7100 and a Mali-G610 MC2 GPU inside. But Tecno has also put in its own G1 Signal and SE1 Wi-Fi chips to round out a three-chip arrangement. Their word is that it keeps things steady even in an elevator or a basement.
As for the rest, you can have up to 8GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2. There’s a 14,689 sq mm cooler for when you put it to work, and HiOS 16 (Android 16) to run it all.

Display and design durability
The screen is a 6.76-inch full-HD+ IPS at 144Hz. It will hit 950 nits if you need it to, with a 1,500Hz touch rate and 381 ppi across a 91.29 per cent of the body.
And it doesn’t look like any other phone. The rear has a semi-transparent, geometric vibe to it. Weighing in at 225 g and 8.8 mm thick, it’s been given MIL-STD-810H and IP64 ratings for the rough stuff. You can get it in 16-bit white, plasma orange or terminal green.

Cameras, pricing, and variants
The 50MP main cam is from Sony (the LYTIA 600) for better low-light and 2x lossless zoom; there’s a 13MP for the front. The app has everything from AI and Super Night to Vlog and Dual Video modes. Selfies are in order too.
There are two ways to buy it in India. The 6GB/128GB is Rs. 29,999, and if you want 8GB of RAM for the same storage, it’s Rs. 31,999. Either way, you’re getting a big battery and a no-nonsense speed.
If you’re the type to stream for a while, have a lot of notifications, or can’t stand a weak signal, the Pova 8 5G might be the upgrade you’re after. It’s less about the spec sheet and more about how it handles the day-to-day.
