In the picture, which one in the audience is said to have taken, you can see Alia in a grey tee and black cap, holding a mic. Sharvari is right there with her, along with Aashish Solanki and Balraj Ghai on the panel. It was enough for a fan to put out a post declaring Alia is part of Season 2, though not everyone is buying it. Some are wondering if the photo is even for real or some AI trickery, while others are speculating on what the show is up to.
Fans split between hype and fatigue
Opinions are running hot. There are those who are all in for the idea of having mainstream names on a creator’s show. Then you have the ones who see it as a step towards the kind of movie marketing they’d rather do without.
Here is how the audience conversation is shaping up so far:
– Excitement that the show could get bigger
– Concern over Bollywood-led promotion creep
– Calls to retain the show’s original flavour
– Curiosity about the guest lineup order
– Questions on the leaked photo’s authenticity
Why it matters for Season 2
It’s a fair concern given the year India’s Got Latent has had. You remember the furore over the Ranveer Allahbadia episode? It brought down the hammer of police complaints and got content pulled. He made an apology for a question that was too much, but the fallout was felt by other guests as well, with more than a few FIRs being talked about. So when Samay put out the word on a new season back in April, people were looking for a no-nonsense relaunch.
If Alia and Sharvari are in fact to be the opening act, the message is to up the ante and change the conversation. But there’s a loud chorus saying the show shouldn’t be sold out for a bit of shine.
What the viral image suggests
Then again, the photo doesn’t look like any kind of stunt. With the way the panel is set up, it seems like a straightforward taping where the guests can have at it. The debate is whether this is a natural fit or a promo slot that will water things down.
Alpha readies for theatres
All of this is happening as Alpha is making its rounds. As the first woman-fronted Yash Raj Films’ Spy Universe movie, it has Alia and Sharvari in the lead, with Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol in key parts. Shiv Rawail is behind the camera – he’s the man for The Railway Men and Fan – and most of the work was put in Kashmir. Bobby Deol is in line to be the villain who may have to train Alia before they come to blows.
YRF, Alia and Sharvari have been hard at work with a teaser poster of a bruised-up Alia to mark the July 10, 2026 release. They even pushed it back from Christmas 2025 to let the VFX team have their way with it.
So the issue isn’t if Alpha is going to be everywhere; it is. What we’re waiting to see is if IGL 2 can make use of that without turning into a billboard for it, as some have put it. We’ll have to wait for the official word on the lineup.
