Realme 16T 5G Launch: 8000mAh Battery, AI Portraits & Rs 55,999 MRP

You can put it down to a case of sticker shock, but the MRP on a leaked retail box for the upcoming Realme 16T 5G is a cool Rs 55,999. It's a number you can see in an image from tipster Abhishek Yadav, and while it is not what you will be paying at the counter, it does show where the company is heading. In truth, leakers have the actual street price in the Rs 20,000 to 25,000 range for the 6GB/8GB variants.

Realme has its sights on the youth of India with this one, and they are making a move for May 22, 2026. The 16T 5G is being put forward as an 8000mAh 3-Day Powerhouse. They say you can get up to three days out of it if you are not hard on it, or about 11 hours of non-stop 60fps BGMI. And they have managed to fit that into a chassis that is only 8.8mm thin.

AI imaging and camera priorities

It won’t be a 4K video maker – some say it doesn’t even do 1080p at 60fps – so don’t expect to be doing any pro-level videography. Instead, the 16T 5G is for the people who want a good shot of their friends. There is a 50MP Sony IMX852 with F1.8 and a 2MP second shooter, all run through the LumaColor IMAGE Engine. For when you are at a concert or a dimly lit restaurant, the AI Portrait Glow is meant to brighten up a face without making it look artificial.

Realme is highlighting these camera elements:

– 50MP Sony IMX852 main, F1.8 with autofocus

– LumaColor IMAGE Engine for skin, tones, edges

– AI Portrait Glow for tricky low-light portraits

– Lighting styles: flash, rim, natural, studio

Social-first tools and creator angle

Then there is the side of things for the content creator. You have a rear Selfie Mirror to let you use the better camera for your shorts, and tools like AI Popout Collage and AI Football Star to make editing for social media a bit of a no-brainer. It is less about the silicon and more about how easy it is to put together a post.

Pricing signal and market positioning

Powering it is likely the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 with 8GB of RAM (with a 10GB boost) and 128GB of storage to start. A 45W wired charger will have to do for recharging the big battery.

Launch timeline and availability

When the 16T 5G, the Watch S5 and Buds Air 8 Pro go on sale on the 22nd via Flipkart and realme’s own channels, we will see if the math adds up. In a mid-range market where MRPs are on the up, the 16T 5G is trying to be the phone for the streamer and the gamer who would rather have a battery that lasts and a decent portrait than some peak speed on a benchmark. If they can hit that Rs 20-25k mark, they will have made their point in a very noisy segment.
