Prime Video just released the trailer for Off Campus Season 1, which gives us a look at Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli in a steamy relationship at college. However, the polished trailer has gotten a lot of negative reactions from people who are upset about a significant thing it doesn’t show, and the age difference between the two leads. With the release on May 13th getting closer, viewers want a lot more explanation and warnings about the show’s content.
Trailer sets up a glossy campus romance
The trailer introduces Hannah, a shy songwriter played by Ella Bright, and Garrett, the star hockey player at Briar University, played by Belmont Cameli. They start with an agreement that will help both of them, but it quickly becomes a complicated fake-relationship with a lot of flirting and awkward moments.
Garrett’s strong statement that their “arrangement” needs to look real is a big clue about where the romance will go. Creator Louisa Levy has the series looking at the bonds of friendship, feeling insecure, and figuring out who you are, aiming for a feeling of growing up.
Fan backlash over what is missing
People who have read Elle Kennedy’s The Deal say the trailer doesn’t give enough importance to the emotional heart of the story. Hannah in the book has a lot of painful past experiences surrounding sex and being tempted, and this is clearly linked to a past sexual assault, which drives her development. Release date and what comes next
Off Campus will be available on Prime Video only on May tthirteen, 2026. All the episodes of the first season will be available at the same time in over 240 different countries and areas, meaning people around the world can watch the whole season as soon as it comes out.
A second season is currently being planned. It isn’t known whether the people making the show will add warnings for things that might be upsetting, explain the difficult content more clearly, or do something about the problem of the age difference. Right now, those who have read the books hope the complete show will be more respectful of the original story than the advertising is.
