Bandar Trailer Out! Bobby Deol Explores Fame’s Dark Side in Anurag Kashyap’s Gripping Drama

Bobby Deol is in Anurag Kashyap's new film, Bandar, and it is a hard look at the underbelly of fame. The 21st May trailer for the movie, which comes to screens around the world on 5th June 2026, is all about moral grey areas and what you make of them.

You could say Deol has put a live one in the 2026 schedule. This is the first time he and Kashyap have been in the same room, and from what we’ve seen, they are not holding back.

A trailer designed to divide and hook

The cut is not for the faint of heart. It won’t tell you who to put your money on. A line like “Justice swipes left” stings. You’re clapping one minute and by the next you’re in cuffs; that grin you were on to is now a guilty look.

Deol has been on a roll with Animal and The Ba

*ds of Bollywood, so when he puts on this kind of persona, people want to see him go there. He does. It’s the sort of thing that will be argued over in the car ride home.

Inside Samar Mehra’s fall

He is Samar Mehra, a TV face running on fumes. Put him in front of a camera and he’s full of himself, but in private he’s empty. He’ll own up to being afraid of his own company, one day thinking he’s a good man, the next not so sure.

Then you have a date with Sapna Pabbi’s character and the rug is pulled out. In the spot she calls him out for rape and extortion; he has her down as a stalker. The cops are in his DMs, showing him off with some young women and putting a label on him. All he can do is tell Sanya Malhotra’s lawyer: I didn’t do it.

Ensemble with bite

Saba Azad is there for a bit of colour in the mayhem. And you have a fine list of names behind them – Raj B Shetty, Riddhi Sen, Jitendra Joshi, Indrajeet, Nagesh Bhonsle – all of them in on the act.

Kashyap has a way of working. With Deol, he lets him be, something you don’t always get. Deol takes advantage of that. The story is based on things that have happened, in a system that isn’t always fair, and it doesn’t flinch.

The creative spine and its pedigree

The script is from Sudip Sharma and Abhishek Banerjee, the ones you know from Paatal Lok and Udta Punjab. They are making you work for it.

Sakshi Mehta Lau is on board as co-director with Kashyap. Nikhil Dwivedi’s Saffron Magicworks and Zee Studios have put their name to it. It was at TIFF in 2025, in the Special Presentations, which tells you where its head is at.

What Bobby Deol says about the gamble

Deol has been open about why he went in on this. He figured he’d pick up a thing or two from Anurag, even if he had to do it without a net. No workshop, no script in hand.

After Animal, he wanted to figure out what made the audience tick. Watched the film, couldn’t put a finger on it, lost an hour of sleep and then put in a 12-hour day. Once the cameras were rolling, it just came.

Release details and why it matters now**

So when you see it on 5th June 2026, after the 21st May of the trailer, you are in for a reckoning on consent and celebrity in a world of receipts.

Let the debate start with the titles.

Here are the big takeaways the trailer makes unmistakable:
– Bobby Deol is in full risk mode
– Anurag Kashyap is back to his bleak best
– The script wants you uncomfortable
– Justice itself feels up for debate

Bandar isn’t going to ask for your pity or get you riled up. It makes a virtue of not having clear answers. For those of us done with the usual, that is the draw.
