Rekha, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan Shine at Eesha Barjatya’s Star-Studded Wedding Reception

A glamorous reception in Mumbai honoured the marriage of Eesha Barjatya and Abhishek; Rekha, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan were amongst the stars there. Sooraj Barjatya hosted the occasion, which showed off Bollywood's style and the close relationships within the industry - a party and a chance to connect for older and newer actors.

On Thursday night, a sparkling Mumbai reception united film stars of different ages to mark the wedding of Eesha Barjatya and Abhishek. The filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya was the host, and many famous people came, having their pictures taken and giving the couple their best wishes. Quite a few pictures and brief clips of people arriving went around on social media.

Stars arriving and on the red carpet

The veteran actress Rekha came in a saree of green, gold and beige, smiling at the press photographers and moving through the people with calm dignity. She gave the evening a refined feel, and people watching were impressed by her.

Salman Khan made a very noticeable arrival, with a lot of security, wearing a royal blue shirt, a matching jacket and trousers, and a black tie. He smiled and confidently posed for the cameras before going to the reception.

Aamir Khan was there with his son Junaid, and both looked relaxed and friendly. Aamir wore a blue shirt under a dark suit, and Junaid had a dark blue kurta with white pyjamas, a mix of modern and traditional looks.

What people wore and family pictures

Eesha Barjatya was brilliant in a decorated silver saree-gown, and Abhishek matched her in a blue suit. A number of videos showed Sooraj Barjatya with the new husband and wife as they posed for the press – a lovely family scene at the centre of the event.

Rani Mukerji was in a white and green decorated suit, which had delicate, pretty detail. Sonali Bendre chose a bright orange outfit which gave the evening some colour, and Sharvari was in a pastel pink lehenga with a pale green dupatta.

Vicky Kaushal was with his father Sham Kaushal, in a beige suit, and Anupam Kher and Anil Kapoor arrived in traditional clothes, between them making a cheerful, festive mood.

A large number of industry friends and those who have been in films a long time

The reception was a list of who was who in the current and older generations of actors. Tabu, Rajkumar Hirani, Sonu Sood, Supriya Pathak, Imtiaz Ali and Udit Narayan were among those who gave their good wishes. Actors including Siddhant Chaturvedi, Neena Gupta, Jackie Shroff, Boman Irani and Sunny Deol also took part in the fun.

Rakesh Roshan, Boney Kapoor, Dilip Joshi and singers like Shaan gave their support, showing the relationships across the generations that Sooraj Barjatya has made. People from the cast of the director’s latest films – including people who worked on Uunchai – were there, showing the long-lasting professional links.

Sooraj Barjatya’s family and important personal events

Sooraj Barjatya married Vineeta Barjatya in 1986. They have three children: Eesha, Avnish and Devaansh. Devaansh was married in Mumbai in 2019, a ceremony that, like this one, attracted the director’s circle of friends and those who wished him well.

The wedding and reception were said to be private, with a large reception later in the evening to celebrate more widely. Eesha is Barjatya’s only daughter, and the family came together to mark this personal event during the director’s busy working life.

What Sooraj Barjatya has done in his career and what he’s doing now

Sooraj Barjatya made his first film as a director with Maine Pyar Kiya in 1989 and then made several very successful family stories, including Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Hum Saath-Saath Hain, Vivah and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. He won a National Film Award for Best Direction for his recent film Uunchai.

He has also moved into making series for television as the person in charge of a project for an OTT service and is now working on a new film, Yeh Prem Mol Liya, which will bring him back together with the usual subjects of love and family. The reception also reminded people of Barjatya’s strong links to the film industry and his continuing creative work.
