It’s a way for us to be more deliberate with how we segment our prices. IndiGo Lite is made for the traveller with just a carry-on. We’re opening for bookings on July 1, 2026, for any travel after the 15th. Since this is a direct-only fare, we are channeling demand our way and broadening the rungs on our pricing ladder at the same time.
The competitive move and what it signals
We are taking our unbundling policy a step further with IndiGo Lite. It gives you the leeway to put down money only for what you will actually use. You will see it right there with Saver, Flexi and Upfront, but as the most basic of the lot. If you are making a quick run or a weekend trip, the idea is simple: leave the hold bag behind and save some cash.
There is a two-week or so window between when you can buy and when you can fly, which is enough for you to re-think a plan or give the new fare a try. For the cost-conscious, we are making sure the numbers are easy to read by not tacking baggage onto the base rate.
What is IndiGo Lite and who can book it
You can put this on any non-stop domestic or international leg, whether it is a one-way, round-trip or a multi-city affair. Adults and children alike can go for it, so it works for a family or if you are on your own.
Key dates and availability
Here is where you can find it and when:
– Bookings open July 1, 2026
– First travel from July 15, 2026
– Website, app and contact centre only
Direct-only sales and the channel play
You won’t find IndiGo Lite on some third-party site, for the time being. To get the fare, you have to come to us via the app, the web or the phone.
It means we can handle the whole process from discovery to upselling in one place. We also avoid the mix-up that can happen when you have a dozen different partners showing our product in their own way.
What travellers get and what costs extra
For the headline figure, you are in with a 7-kg cabin bag and a seat we have put you in. After that, it is à la carte. We keep the cost down for the ones who are packing light.
Want to check a bag, pick your spot, have a meal or get some priority? You can put that on top. And don’t worry, you will still be able to build up and use your IndiGo BluChip points even with this lower tier.
It is a bit of a modular system, in line with what you see in the industry, but we have made it fit for our size and the way we do things. It is for the type of flier who wants to be in charge of the bill.
Why this matters for IndiGo’s pricing strategy
We have been chipping away at our fare structure to suit different kinds of trips. With IndiGo Lite, we are giving an alternative to the person who has no need for a piece of luggage in the hold. It is an addition, not a substitution.
And with our numbers, we can make it count. We have over 440 planes in the air, 2,100+ a day, and we link up 95 domestic and 40 overseas spots. Since Lite is on every non-stop route, you can get in on it from the start.
Put simply, for you it is: less in your hand, less out of your pocket, and you add on if you have to. For us, it is a way to put some distance between our products and the rest, while we bring in more of our own business and make the relationship with the customer a bit tighter.
