The viral claim of a shutdown during the NEET PG 2026 period has been exposed as fake. CGHS says its centres will remain in operation through August 31 so that beneficiaries do not find themselves without access to care.
This comes as a clarification only days before the entrance test is held by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences on August 30, 2026. There was some public worry that medical officers being on exam duty could impede services.
What triggered the confusion
Online one could find a document with the CGHS name and logo purporting a five-day closure of Wellness Centres while medical officers were deployed for examination work. The Directorate has put an end to that, calling the document unauthorised and false.

Official position on operations
All Wellness Centres are set to run on their prescribed schedules from August 27 to 31, 2026, CGHS has confirmed.
Should personnel be needed for NEET PG 2026 duties, administrative arrangements will be put in place to handle staffing without impacting the service. The Directorate is at pains to point out there are no plans for a nationwide shutdown.
The Directorate has underlined three things:
– A regular working schedule will be in effect at the centres.
Any unauthorised notice is invalid and should not be put on display.
Services for beneficiaries will not be hampered by staff deployment.
