Kiara Advani dismisses Toxic scene cut rumours as ‘absolute nonsense’

Kiara Advani has said that the rumors about her asking for some of the more intimate scenes in the film Toxic to be shortened are completely untrue. Geetu Mohandas directed the film, which stars Yash, and it's had its release date changed a few times now as they prepare to show it around the world.

Kiara isn’t interested in gossip. People were saying she had asked the people making Toxic to cut back on the intimate scenes with Yash, and Kiara quickly said on Instagram that this was “absolute nonsense.” Her very direct denial comes as the film continues to be talked about and the date it comes out keeps being altered.

Kiara Advani calls rumours ‘absolute nonsense’

She shared a news story that said she wanted some of the more daring scenes in Toxic to be milder, and dismissed it with just one line: “absolute nonsense.” This directly goes against a report which said she had asked for changes after seeing the finished scenes.

Online, people were already excitedly analyzing every clip from the trailers. Her quick reply completely changed what people were saying about the situation in just a few minutes.

What sparked the chatter

Gulte reported that people in the industry were saying Kiara went to Yash and Geetu Mohandas to shorten some of the intimate parts of the film. They also said she had filmed a fairly bold romantic scene after being told it would be something she was comfortable with.

Because the promotional pictures and videos were getting criticism for being too sensual, speculation increased. Kiara responded to one post on Instagram that made this claim by quoting it and publicly denying it.

Here is where each side stands:

– Kiara: ‘Absolute nonsense’ to rumours

– Report: Claims she requested scene cuts

– Makers: Focusing on global rollout

– Film: Releasing in Hindi and other South Indian languages

Toxic’s shifting release plans

Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups has had several different dates for release. First it was going to be April 10, 2025, then 2026. Later they planned for March 19, 2026, but it didn’t come out then, and now it isn’t being released on June 4, 2026 either.

Yash has said the date has changed because they’re working on getting the film distributed and partnering with companies all over the world. Because of this, they’ve decided to rethink when it will come out (and he wrote “sic” which means he knows that’s not perfect grammar!). He also said that the good reaction at CinemaCon made the team believe the film should have as big an audience as possible around the world.

He said, “There are films we make, and then there are films that remind us why we fell in love with cinema. Toxic has been one of those films.” (again, he wrote “sic”).

What the team says on tone and vision

Yash praised Geetu Mohandas’s way of doing things at ComicCon: “She has very clear ideas and is totally sure of what she’s doing. She is also a brilliant writer. I have so much to learn from her.”

He went on to say, “I’ve realized during this film that how a woman expresses desire, certain feelings, romance or sexuality, is completely different.”
