The Reno 16 is what we’d put in front of a creator. The star of the show is a 50 MP telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom, and you can shoot 4K 60fps HDR at any focal length. We’ve been told you can pick one up on Amazon India when it drops on the 2nd, so there’s some incentive to be first in line.
India launch and availability
OPPO has put a date on the calendar for the India debut: July 2nd. That’s when the Reno 16 and 16c will be made available through Amazon India. We’ll have more on the local side of things once the event is over.
Then there’s the matter of size. OPPO is touting the Reno 16 as the compact option; the 16c is a bit roomier. Either way, they come with ColoOS 16 pre-installed.
What you need to know before they hit the shelves:
– Hitting India on July 2nd
– Your choice of a Reno 16 or 16c
– You can order them from Amazon India
– A phone built for good looks and solid performance
Why the cameras could change your shooting routine
According to OPPO, the new series is well-equipped: 50MP for the main, 50MP for the ultra-wide, and a 50MP telephoto that does 3.5x optical. Up front, a 50MP selfie cam with a 100 field of view should let you get more in the picture. There’s also a Dual Flash System for when the light isn’t great.
If you like to make video, this is where it gets interesting. 4K 60fps HDR is on the table for all three rear lenses. As for the hardware, the Reno 16 has the 50 MP trio (main, ultrawide, and a 50 MP for selfies). The 16c will have a 50 MP main and a 50 MP for the front. Both have a dual tone flash. It’s a step up from the old Reno 15c, which didn’t have a telephoto to speak of.
AI tools and video features
If you’re making content for social, OPPO has included some time-savers like AI Remix Collage, Pop Cam, and the 2.0 versions of Popout and Dual-View Video. The idea is to do your editing and put some life into your clips without having to open another app, so you can share faster.
Design, displays, and durability
On the back of the new Reno 16 is a 3D Pop Planet Design that you can put your finger on. They’ve also put an AI Snap Key in the lineup – think of it as the OnePlus’ AI Plus Key – to get to your features and sort out your MindSpace in a hurry.
You have options on the screen. The 16 has a 6.32-inch FHD+ AMOLED that can hit 1,800 nits and 120Hz. The 16c is 6.57-inches with the same refresh rate but 1,400 nits of brightness.
And they are hardy. We’re talking IP66, 68, 69 and 69K ratings, along with an aluminium frame from the aerospace industry. To top it off, there’s splash and glove touch so you can use the phone in less than ideal situations. You can have it in Starry White, Twilight Violet or Stellar Purple.
OPPO Bubble and ecosystem add-ons
The phones won’t be alone; the OPPO Bubble is coming too. It’s a 1.73-inch AMOLED display that magnetically clamps on and works as a remote or a live viewfinder for the Reno 16, giving you some hands-free flexibility.
It has a 550mAh battery, is IP54 rated, and will reach 10 metres over Bluetooth. You can even put a little animated pet on the screen if you like. And if you were wondering about the Enco Air 5 TWS, OPPO has given us a hint about those as well.
In short, the Reno 16 is meant to be a camera with some style and substance. We’re down to the wire now, and on July 2nd we should finally see the prices and when you can actually buy one.
