The Rs 1200 crore and what projects it covers
Rajpal said that he has Rs 1200 crore worth of work for the coming seven years, with the majority of it coming from branding agreements – four of them, in fact, which make up the bulk of that amount. The actor also said ten films were in the works.
The arrangements with projects vary; some are fees, and some are shares in the business. Rajpal explained that some of the projects are expensive, and are not connected to his acting jobs. He said these plans were a path to getting his finances stable again.
What the legal problem is and how it started
The trouble began in 2010, when Rajpal took Rs 5 crore from an investor to make a film. The film didn’t do well, and so problems with paying the money back started. Several cheques bounced, which meant criminal charges were brought under the Negotiable Instruments Act.
A court found him guilty, and then later legal rulings made things worse. The authorities said he had to make a deposit to be given bail for a time; the actor turned himself in to be held in custody, before being let out on temporary bail. What the court had sent him, and promises he’d made earlier, were very important in the recent hearings.
What Rajpal and his lawyer said, and what security was offered
Rajpal and his lawyer said that the person who’d made the complaint wouldn’t accept the security that was offered, and instead wanted the actor put in jail. The lawyer said the lender had turned down property papers and other guarantees in 2018, and had chosen to ask for the actor to be imprisoned. That claim suggested the dispute was about getting even, not about getting money back.
The legal team also said that interest and penalties had increased the total amount owed to about Rs 10.40 crore. They argued the debt had grown because of the high interest rate, which had made it harder for the actor to pay back over time.
Support from the public, money received, and promises to pay it back
During the press conference, Rajpal thanked all those who had helped him – from his fans to other people in the acting world. He recognised money given, from small sums to larger amounts, through social media and private offers. He said he’d publicly thank the people who’d given him money, and would give a statement about the repayments.
Rajpal asked supporters to send their bank details, and asked for time to give the money back. He stressed that he intended to pay everyone who’d helped him, and to be worthy of the help he’d received. He said, several times, that he had never planned to trick anyone.
Back to work and his film commitments
Rajpal went back to filming after a short time off to go to a family wedding, while on bail. He confirmed he was in a big upcoming film, Bhooth Bangla, which would be released in April 2026. He said he’d restarted work on a number of projects to make his career more stable.
He also said that his production company was a way to help new people from smaller towns. Rajpal described his production house and branding deals as both businesses, and ways to give opportunities to new actors.
Rajpal Yadav used the press conference to show he was taking responsibility, but also that he was ambitious. He showed his future earnings and projects as a way to pay his debts, while also defending his good name. The legal case is still going on, but the actor said he would focus on work and repayment in the immediate future.
