Redmi Turbo 5 Set to Launch in India: Specs, Features, and Availability

India is in for a treat when Xiaomi brings out the Redmi Turbo 5. It's going to have some heft to it with a 7,560mAh battery and 100W charging to top it off, all in a build that can take a little wear and tear. You'll be able to pick one up on Amazon. As for what you're looking at under the hood: a 6.59-inch OLED screen, a 50MP camera, and a MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra. We don't have the final word on price or the different models just yet.

Xiaomi is making a move in India with its new Redmi Turbo line, and the first to cross the finish line will be the Redmi Turbo 5. We don’t have a firm date on when it will hit the stands, but word on the street is it could be as soon as this month. You’ll be able to pick one up on Amazon, which should put some buyers at ease.

What is coming to India

The brand has put a stamp of approval on the India launch for the series, with the Turbo 5 to spearhead it. They haven’t said whether you can find it in physical stores, but the Amazon route is a given.

Why it could matter for power users

In a short teaser, Xiaomi made a point of the phone’s ‘Pixel Matrix’ look and called it out as being built for speed, with an invitation for fans to put in their names for updates. It’s all about giving users the kind of power they don’t have to wait for.

Then there’s the battery and charging. The version from China has a 7,560mAh unit and 100W wired fast charging. If you put your phone through its paces, that’s the sort of setup that means you won’t have to choose between a full day’s use and a quick recharge.

It’s also no slouch on durability. With IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K on the spec sheet, it can stand up to dust, water jets and even 30 minutes under 1.5 metres of water. You don’t see that kind of hardiness in this tier very often.

Display and everyday experience

As for what you’re looking at, the Chinese model has a 6.59-inch 1.5K OLED with 120Hz. It can get to 3,500 nits and has Dolby Vision for better HDR. There’s Corning Gorilla Glass 7i and 3840Hz PWM dimming to keep things comfortable and tough.

Performance and software

Inside, you’ve got the MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra and an Arm Mali-G720 MC8. Top-end builds will have 16GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1. Running on top of it is HyperOS 3 (Android 16), so you’re in for some new stuff right away.

You won’t be without the basics: in-display fingerprint, stereo sound, IR blaster, NFC, USB-C. 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4 and NavIC are all there for good measure.

Cameras and content creation

The camera is a 50MP Sony IMX882 with OIS and an 8MP ultra-wide. It’s a solid arrangement for when the light is low or you want a steady video. Up front, a 20MP shooter is on hand for the occasional selfie or 1080p/60fps clip, and the display is vivid enough to make any editing you do on the go feel right.

Expected price and variants

We have no price for the Indian market yet, but the fact it’s already for sale in China gives you an idea of where it might land. Xiaomi has been known to tinker with prices here, and the cost of memory these days will play a part.

For reference, these are the Chinese-market prices:
– 12GB+256GB at 1,999 yuan, roughly Rs 28,100
– 16GB+256GB at 2,299 yuan, around Rs 32,300
– 12GB+512GB at 2,299 yuan, around Rs 32,300
– 16GB+512GB at 2,599 yuan, approximately Rs 36,569

Availability and what to watch

So for now, you can expect to see the Redmi Turbo 5 on Amazon. Whether it makes it to the high street is up in the air, as is the final colour and SKU list.

Some of the numbers from the Chinese version tell you what to expect: 157.53 x 75.19 x 8.18mm and 204g. It’s not going to be featherweight, but with a battery of that size, it should still be fine in the hand.

All that’s left is for Xiaomi to put a date on the calendar and let us know the local pricing. If they don’t change the formula, the Turbo 5 has the makings of a device that can put some heat on the competition with its mix of endurance, charging and build quality.
