The doors of Kedarnath Dham were opened on Wednesday with all the correct rituals, and Prime Minister Modi wrote a personal letter to everyone going. He called the Chardham yatra a holy celebration of faith, unity and our valuable traditions, welcoming pilgrims and explaining the changes that have been made to make this year’s journey easier and more important.
He gave his best wishes to all the many visitors, saying the reopening is both holy and at just the right time. He encouraged pilgrims to really feel the spirituality of the Himalayas, and also to enjoy the improved facilities all along the route.
Kedarnath Dham reopens with full rituals
As the most holy part of the temple opened in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand, the Prime Minister said it was a lucky and open to everyone occasion, pointing out the doors were opened for all worshippers in the traditional way. He stressed that the yatra is about devotion, but also about being united and protecting our heritage.
On social media, he said the doors opened with all the proper ceremonies and that the Chardham yatra is a divine celebration of faith and unity that gives you a look at India’s lasting culture.
PM Modi’s letter to pilgrims
The Prime Minister said he’s written to everyone arriving in Uttarakhand with prayers for a lucky trip and good wishes from Baba Kedar. He finished with a greeting to the holy place: ‘Har-Har Mahadev!’
He wrote that Badrinath and Kedarnath aren’t just places to go on a pilgrimage, they are symbols of ancient culture and ways of life. He described the four holy places as the centre of religious belief and where India’s cultural and spiritual history is kept.
The letter says the Himalayas and holy rivers make a peaceful atmosphere which gives people a unique spiritual experience. The Prime Minister said the beautiful nature around the temples makes the connection between pilgrims and India’s continuing traditions even stronger.
Facilities and upgrades for devotees
The Prime Minister said work is continuing to protect the holiness of the Char Dham while improving safety, how easy it is to get there, and how comfortable it is. He said rebuilding in Kedarnath and improving Badrinath is happening quickly, and is very focused on what the pilgrims need.
The letter listed these key improvements that are now at Kedarnath:
more seats for larger groups of people, repaired roads and new paths for easier getting around, improved and easier walking paths and ramps where needed, clean places to get a drink of water along the route, more public bathrooms for being clean, emergency medical help and first aid, shelters and places to get out of the weather for pilgrims, and information places and people to guide you.
Also, the Prime Minister said the lighting and security have been increased around the temple and on the paths. They are cleaning and maintaining the temple and the area around it regularly to make it clean and welcoming.
He wrote that the work in Uttarakhand is about changing things while also keeping the traditions, so the pilgrimage is still available to everyone without losing its spiritual importance. He said the improvements are to make travel easier, but to keep the special quality of the holy places.
Again saying he is committed to a smooth and well-supported journey, the Prime Minister thanked everyone who worked on these improvements. He warmly welcomed pilgrims arriving at the holy home of Baba Kedar.
The Chardham yatra is Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. As the season starts, the Prime Minister has invited worshippers to make the pilgrimage with faith, and to see it as a real, living expression of belief, unity and India’s rich cultural history.
He hopes Baba Kedar will continue to give blessings to everyone and make each journey lucky. With all the ceremonies done and the support systems strengthened, the season opens with a focus on devotion, safety and a closer connection with India’s lasting spiritual heritage, as he said in his message.
