After being removed as the Aam Aadmi Party’s deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha, Raghav Chadha has strongly criticized his party. He calls the removal a “coordinated attack” and says many of the accusations are false. He used the phrase “Ghayal hoon isliye ghatak hoon” (roughly, “I am wounded, therefore I am dangerous”) to show he isn’t backing down and promises to reveal the “untruths.”
Chadha’s Response to Party Allegations
Chadha says the accusations against him were pre-planned and for political gain. He insists the way things have happened is a clear effort to make him look bad, and isn’t to do with holding him accountable within the party.
In a video he posted on X (formerly Twitter), Chadha said he will respond to every single charge and show the proof. He sounded both defiant and as if the correct processes should be followed.
Walkout Claims and Call for CCTV Proof
One accusation was that Chadha didn’t take part in the opposition’s walkouts from Parliament. He called that a “blatant lie” and told people to show recordings of Parliament happening to prove it.
Chadha reminded everyone that everything that happens during parliamentary sessions is filmed and watched. He said CCTV footage and official records should be looked at before anyone decides what happened, because this disagreement can be proven or disproven – it isn’t just about what people say.
Impeachment Motion Dispute and Signature Issue
Chadha also said he didn’t refuse to sign a motion (a formal proposal) against the Chief Election Commissioner. He said no one in the party asked him to sign it, and other members of the party also didn’t sign their names.
He explained how things work in the Rajya Sabha: a motion needs 50 signatures. Chadha said they could have got 50 signatures and questioned why he specifically was blamed, instead of looking at the whole plan.
Defending Parliamentary Record and Public Issues Raised
Chadha has been concentrating on important public policy in Parliament, and not on causing trouble. He’s spoken about GST (a tax), income tax policy, air pollution, dealing with water, healthcare, and education.
He’s also been concerned with things going on in society like menstrual health, unemployment, the rising cost of things (inflation), and problems for passengers on trains. Chadha says he wants to make a real difference for people, not just protest or shout in Parliament.
Advocacy on Local Governance and Women’s Representation
Besides debates about the budget and policies, Chadha has brought up the “sarpanch pati” problem. This is when husbands or other male relatives actually control women who have been elected to reserved seats. He wants the intention of the 73rd Constitutional Amendment to be put into practice.
Since becoming a Member of Parliament in April 2022, Chadha has made a point of talking about government and actually giving women power. He says these issues are key to a government being responsible to the people.
Party Change and Political Ramifications
The AAP told the Rajya Sabha Secretariat that Ashok Kumar Mittal will now take Chadha’s place as deputy leader. This change has led to a lot of discussion about how well the party is sticking to its rules and who is in charge.
Chadha says replacing him is part of a “scripted campaign” and suggests the argument could get worse. People will be watching to see if it stays as a change of person, or becomes a much larger political battle.
What to Watch Next in This Political Row
We can expect people to demand proof and for things to be done correctly to become more urgent. If recordings and signatures are shown, they could solve the factual disagreements. If not, the problems inside the party could get even bigger.
For now, Chadha’s warning "Ghayal hoon isliye ghatak hoon” clearly shows what he’s going to do. He’s saying his next moves will be both defending himself and fighting back, and that this situation will affect his job in Parliament and how the party works in the future.
