This week brings back-to-back outages as our crews work through the main grids. Take Tuesday, for instance: on June 16, 2026, we will be turning off the supply from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm in swaths of Ambattur, central Chennai and Pallavaram. According to officials, it’s a must-do to have the network in good shape before we hit peak demand.
Timings and restoration plan
We have put in place a five-hour window for the shutdown, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. You should have your power back by 2:00, though if the work goes well, we may be able to restore it a bit sooner.
Then there is another five-hour block on Wednesday for some 150 or so spots, running from Pallavaram over to Mogappair, same hours.
Where Tuesday’s outage will hit
In Ambattur, both the industrial and home side of things will be down. We are talking about Pattaravakkam Pillaiyar Koil Street, the 1st to 19th Streets in SIDCO Estate North Phase, Bajanai Koil, Mangalapuram and the Kochar Apartments.
You will also see a stoppage in Brahmin, Yadava and Kulakkarai streets, as well as Katchanakuppam, Periyar Nagar, the road by the Railway Station, Aavin Milk Dairy Main Road and TASS Industrial Estate.
The commercial heart of central Chennai will be in the dark too. In the Flower Bazaar area, that means Rattan Bazaar, NSC Bose, Frazier Bridge, Evening Bazaar, Devaraja Mudali, Mint, Nainiappa Naicken, Ganguram, Raghu Naickulu, Pethu Naicken and EVR Salai.
Park Town, Esplanade, Mannady and Sowcarpet
For Park Town, we have marked out Isaac, Paramasivam, Vengu, Mannar, Perara and Kulandai. The list also has Wall Tax, Ponnappa, Rasappa, Subbu, Kallappa, Amman Koil, Pillaiyar Koil, Samuduram and EK Agraharam.
Esplanade is no exception. Outages will run along NSC Bose, Badriyan, Stringer, Maliyaperumal, Broadway, Anderson, Amberson, Bunder, Annapillai, Loan Square, Kandappa, Davidson and Chinnathamby.
Even the trading posts will have to put up with it. In Mannady, we are looking at Sungaram Rama, Kondichetty, Baker, the CC Bank side and Francis Joseph. Over in Sowcarpet, the cut will be felt on Govindappa Naicken, Kasi Chetty, Godown, Narayana and Perumal streets.
Pallavaram and suburbs face wider shutdown
To keep the network in order, we are including some of the larger residential tracts in and around Pallavaram. Pammal Venkateswara, Moovar, Andal, Cowl Bazaar, Indira, Siva Shankar, ECTV, Malliamma, Prem and Kalliamman nagars are all on the docket.
And it doesn’t end there: Gerugambakkam, Krishna and Gandhi nagars, the main roads in Tiruneermalai and Ayyappa, Balaji, Bharathiyar and Kambar. We are also covering Annasalai, Mosque, Abdul Kalam, Muthupalanippa, Sargunam and Aadham salais, plus Sigamani and a few others next to them.
Wednesday’s broader maintenance sweep
We have a more extensive round of work planned for Wednesday, some 150 locations this time. From 9 to 2, the power will be off in and around Pallavaram, Anakaputhur, Chitlapakkam, Raj Bhavan, Injambakkam, Kovur, Mogappair and Vanagaram.
Some of the other areas are Mettu, the stretch from Enjambakkam to Vettuvankeni, and the 1st and 2nd streets in Prestige Mantri Rajan and Spring Garden.
Plan now to avoid disruptions
We would ask that you make some headway in preparation. Without a backup, you could be in a spot with your fridge, lift, point of sale or medical gear.
A few easy ways to make the day a little easier:
– Get your phones and laptops charged up
– Do your water pumping before 9:00 am
– Have some cash on hand in case the digital side is down
– Turn off what you can before the cut
– Make sure any vital medical equipment is covered
Why this matters and what to watch
It is all in the name of keeping the system reliable. The five-hour span gives us enough time to get it done without having to be out and about in the middle of the night.
If we are done with the job, power may be back on before 2:00. If you are in one of these localities, keep an eye on things and plan your day around it.
