IGI Airport Issues Advisory for India AI Summit 2026, Recommends Metro Travel

Because of the India AI Summit 2026, Indira Gandhi International Airport has told passengers they should use the Metro rather than drive, so as to stay clear of busy roads. A lot of people will be at the summit - which is taking place at Bharat Mandapam - and so it's really important to arrange your journey in advance if you want it to go well.

Indira Gandhi International Airport put out a warning for passengers on Monday, because New Delhi is getting ready for the India AI Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam. The airport said roads will probably be very busy, and suggested people use the Delhi Metro to get to the buildings without trouble. The warning told people to make plans and give themselves more time.

Airport warning and metro lines to take

Early in the morning, the people who run the airport posted that passengers should remember to add more time to their trips. They said that big happenings in the city can affect roads to and from the airport, and it’s best to use public transport if they can. To help keep delays to a minimum, the warning gave specific metro lines to take. People going to Terminal 1 should use the Magenta Line. People going to Terminals 2 and 3 were told to use the Airport Express Line to get there quicker.

How big the India AI Summit 2026 is going to be

The India AI Summit 2026, and the India AI Impact Expo that goes with it, begin today at Bharat Mandapam, under the idea of ‘Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya’. The summit will go on until February 20 and includes large shows and talks about policy, all over the place at the venue. The people putting on the expo expect it to cover more than 70,000 square meters and to have over 250,000 people come, including people from other countries. Because of the size and how many people are going, managing traffic and keeping everything secure is a big issue for the whole city during the event.

Shows, country areas, and new companies taking part

The expo has more than 300 areas that have been carefully chosen and shows happening live, around three ideas: People, Planet, and Progress. Over 600 new companies will show off AI answers, many of which are already being used in the real world in areas like farming, schooling, and government. Thirteen country areas will show how the world is working together, with countries from Asia, Europe, and Africa taking part. The summit also has more than 500 meetings planned and expects over 3,250 people to speak and be on panels – which shows a lot of people will be moving around central New Delhi.

What people flying should do to avoid being late

Passengers flying into and out of IGI Airport should make their journeys a long time before, and expect more traffic near Bharat Mandapam. Give yourself more time for getting from one place to another, and check what building your flight is in before you leave for the airport, to pick the best way to get there. Use the metro if you can, and time your trip to avoid the busiest times around when the event starts and ends. If you have to use road transport, book airport taxis or ride services early, have your digital tickets ready, and watch live traffic reports for changes to the route.

Security and things to do at the airport for passengers

With a big event going on, people in charge will probably put more security and traffic controls in place. Passengers should carry proper ID, get to the airport earlier than normal, and help with checking to stop delays at the last minute at security. Airport parking and places to be dropped off may be very busy. If you park on the property, check if there’s space before, and think about parking off-site. People from other countries should talk to their hotels or the people putting on the event for plans for how to get around that are suggested.

What the event means for the city and the AI world

The summit is a landmark for what India wants to do with AI, showing off models from India and rules for policy, along with work with other countries. The event will make chances for business, make partnerships, and show how technology is being used on a large scale. At the same time, large groups of people put a strain on how cities move people around. Clear warnings like the one from IGI Airport help manage how passengers move and cut down on trouble. Travelers who follow the advice – by using the metro or planning ahead – will probably have fewer delays and a better trip.
