Noida International Airport Inauguration: Flight Start Dates, Destinations, and Key Details

The new Noida International Airport at Jewar has officially opened, and this is a really important step for air travel in northern India. Its IATA code is DXN and it's going to help the very busy Delhi airport with all the flights. Domestic flights are predicted to begin sometime between mid-April and May of 2026, and international flights will follow later that year. At first, the flights will go to large cities within India, and they are planning to eventually fly to places like Dubai and Singapore.

The Noida International Airport at Jewar opened on March 28th, marking a major advancement for flying in northern India. This completely new airport, with the code DXN, will work with the current Delhi airport to reduce congestion in the area. People in charge now think actual flights will start in the next few weeks.

Timeline: When Flights Will Start

On March 6th the airport got its aerodrome license from the DGCA, which is a necessary approval. After getting this license, airports generally need 45 days to two months to get airlines, ground service companies, and all the systems that run the airport working together.

Officials suggest that passengers and goods could be flying in and out about 45 days after all final approvals are given. This means the first domestic flights will probably be between mid-April and May t2026. International flights are likely to come in late 2026, probably around September, after more approvals.

Ticketing and Booking Windows

Tickets for domestic flights should become available about six weeks before the first flights, so people won’re have a huge amount of time to plan. International tickets will likely be on sale roughly 90 days before the international flights begin, because those routes take longer to get ready.

IndiGo, Akasa Air and Air India Express have said they will fly from the new airport, which will make it easier and faster for them to decide on times and routes when the airport first opens.

Phase 1 Capacity and Operational Focus

The first part of the Noida International Airport was built with about Rs 11,200 crore of investment, using a partnership between the government and a private company. This first part has one 3,900-meter runway and a building for passengers that can handle around 12 million people a year.

The airport will start with only domestic flights during the day, to make sure everything is handed over smoothly between the people involved. Later, they will have flights all day and night, and slowly offer all domestic and international flights as the number of passengers becomes more steady.

Expected Destinations and Route Priorities

The first flights will focus on domestic routes to major cities like Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. Lucknow, Dehradun and Hubli are also mentioned as likely early destinations as the airport’s schedule is built.

Dubai, Singapore and Zurich were originally thought of as international destinations, but these routes will only be added after the airport is fully up and running with domestic flights. Officials say international flights might not begin for several months after domestic ones, until flight times and customs are arranged.

What Travelers and Businesses Should Know

Noida International Airport will serve Noida, Greater Noida, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Mathura and Agra, and will make it easier to get to many religious and tourist spots. The airport has up-to-date navigation equipment like an Instrument Landing System and advanced lights on the runway to allow flights in all kinds of weather.

In the first phase, the airport can handle over 250,000 tonnes of cargo a year, and this can be greatly increased as the airport gets bigger. In the future they plan to have as many as five runways and to be able to serve 70 million passengers a year by 2040, making it one of the biggest airports in the region.

Passengers should look at what the airlines say for specific flight times and when you can book. The roads and other transportation options (including a combination of different methods) will be improved as the airport gets busier, so during the first few months, you should leave a little extra time for getting to and from the airport.

The opening of Noida International Airport clearly shows that air travel facilities in northern India are expanding. With the DGCA’s approval and airlines ready to go, we can expect domestic flights to begin in stages soon, and international flights later in 2026.
