Speaking at the CPA India Region Zone VII conference in Goa, Om Birla said politicians need to go beyond what they personally want or what their party wants and be honest in their service to the people. Elected officials should make sure people’s hopes are turned into actual results and make our democratic institutions stronger through being open, involving everyone, and responding to people’s needs.
Message to Lawmakers on Integrity and Public Service
Birla said people’s faith in the government comes from having a clear vision, working hard, and being totally dedicated to helping people. Politicians must prioritize the public over their party’s goals and work to fulfill what people need. He said honesty is absolutely essential to building a country that is developed, fair, and able to stand on its own.
He reminded politicians that being chosen for office means they have a responsibility to turn people’s desires into actual policies and accomplishments. He asked for a government that is clear and accountable, reinforces trust in our representative democracy, and provides real benefits to people in all states.
Youth Leadership and the Viksit Bharat 2047 Goal
Birla said young politicians are vital to reaching the goal of a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047. He wants these newer leaders to bring new ideas, energy and innovative ways of doing things to the process of making policy. He said their involvement can speed up development that includes everyone and help create an economy that is self-sufficient and fair.
Birla encouraged these politicians to create policies that allow for both economic growth and improvements in people’s lives. He linked young leaders to the idea of lasting improvements and said investing in good governance now will create opportunities for the next generation.
Strengthening Legislative Effectiveness and Competition
Birla explained that knowing the rules, how things work, and the legislative process makes politicians more effective in Parliament. He said politicians who really get involved in debates and discussions about policy are often people who have influence in their states. Being active strengthens the politician themselves and the institution as a whole.
Birla also suggested that state legislatures competing in a good way can lead to better public services and governance. He urged state assemblies and councils to learn from each other, use the best methods of working, and improve standards by comparing themselves to each other constructively, not as rivals.
Technology, Research, and Human Sensitivity in Governance
When discussing research and new ideas, Birla said we should use science and technology to solve problems for the public. He pointed out that things like artificial intelligence can change how policy is made, improve how services are provided, and help us make better decisions in areas like development along the coast and tourism.
However, at the same time, he warned that advances in technology must be balanced with understanding and care for people. Politicians should connect with citizens with kindness and a willingness to understand, and provide a government that responds to people’s needs by combining facts and data with a real understanding of what people need where they live.
Regional Cooperation Through CPA Zone VII and Forward Agenda
Birla celebrated the launch of the new CPA Zone VII (which includes Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa) and said that cooperation in the region is valuable. He said the zone can help states share the best ways of governing, developing coastal areas, and encouraging tourism, and turn regional problems into chances to work together.
The conference was a place for experienced and new leaders to share strategies for having an excellent democracy and progressive governance. Birla finished by saying that working together, being innovative, and holding onto democratic values will help India continue to grow and achieve the vision of a “Viksit Bharat” by and before 2047.
By emphasizing honesty, strong institutions, and being good at using technology, the Speaker made a clear plan for politicians who want to turn the public’s trust into good results. He showed that being a responsible leader and always learning are still very important for making our democracy better and delivering for the public.
