Apple has made the iPhone 17 series bigger by releasing the iPhone 17e – a good-value model with a lot of the best features at a lower price. This new phone has a current A19 chip and a 48MP Fusion camera, and comes with a base storage amount which is what users now expect, offering both space and speed.
What the iPhone 17e brings to the range
The iPhone 17e is below the main iPhone 17 phones, but has a number of key improvements in common with them, and is a good middle-range choice. Apple has priced it at Rs 64,900 in India with 256GB of storage as the minimum, twice the starting amount of the last ‘e’ model, and without raising the price.
Apple sees the 17e as a good option for people who want top-level features like MagSafe and advanced pictures, but don’t want to pay the very highest prices. The phone is meant to attract customers who value storage, connection, and up-to-date equipment at a good price.
Performance: A19 chip and better connectivity
The A19 chip is the core of the iPhone 17e, and is made using a 3-nanometer process which is both fast and uses little energy. This chip gives smoother doing of more than one thing at once, faster opening of apps, and better graphics for games and creative apps.
Wireless and mobile connections are also improved. The phone has MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging at up to 15W, and the C1X modem for quicker and more efficient mobile data. These improvements are useful for people who depend on quick networks and accessory systems.
Camera and screen improvements
The 17e especially stands out for its photography. The 48-megapixel Fusion camera can take photos at the full 48MP or at 24MP for smaller files, giving users a choice between detail and managing storage. The sensor also lets you make a 2x optical-quality zoom without making the lens bigger.
The video features include 4K recording with Dolby Vision, and spatial sound, plus better portrait depth mapping for better separating of subjects. At the front is a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED screen protected by Ceramic Shield 2, which promises better scratch resistance and less glare.
Battery, safety, and software experience
Apple says that the 17e has good battery life, due to the A19 and the new modem saving energy. This balance means it can last all day with a mixture of jobs, streaming, and using maps, without a big loss of battery because of the added performance.
Safety features from the more expensive models have been added to the 17e. Emergency SOS via satellite, sharing your location when not on a network, and Crash Detection are all part of the package. The phone comes with iOS 26, which increases the use of Apple Intelligence in apps, and has smarter system-wide features and on-phone helpers.
Spring 2026 extras, Apple Watch straps, and price details
Apple has also updated its Spring 2026 extra range, updating Apple Watch straps and iPhone cases with new colours and designs. Sport Bands now come in Soft Pink, Clementine, and Bright Guava, while Sport Loops have Bright Guava, Blue Mist, and Cantaloupe. In India, non-Hermes watch straps cost Rs 4,500.
Hermes has been largely updated with new colours and designs, including the Neo Tricot knitted strap and the Toile H Double Jeu waterproof strap. The new Hermes options are for comfort and breathability, and widen the high-quality choices for watch buyers.
For iPhone extras, Apple has added a Silicone Case with MagSafe for the iPhone 17e, which costs Rs 4,900 in India. A Clear Case with MagSafe and a Beats-branded case are also available in some markets. Apple has introduced a cross-body strap extra, costing Rs 5,900, to increase the accessory options for daily carrying.
In all, the iPhone 17e updates Apple’s middle-range offering by putting together top-level function with prices people can afford. With the A19 chip, 48MP Fusion camera, MagSafe, and a new extra range, the 17e seems made to appeal to buyers who want good performance and storage without paying the very highest prices.
