If you are in the Ajay Devgn camp, you could be in for some laughs a bit earlier than you thought. With reports of Dhamaal 4 moving up to July 10, 2026, the July calendar is looking a little more crowded and Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s Alpha might have to think twice about their plans. Trade is all abuzz with an official line coming down the pike.
What changed and why
You would have seen the comedy was put down for July 17, 2026, which is when The Odyssey is due. A source in the trade says the makers didn’t want to tangle with that kind of competition, so they have put in for a new opening on July 10 to make for a better run for the film.
Word on the street is that the 10th of July has opened up because of some talk that Alpha is mulling over the 3rd. The Dhamaal side of things made a quick move on it. The idea is to let the audience in a week early and let the franchise have its moment without the day-and-date static.
Will Alpha blink again?
Alpha was already up to July 10, 2026 to have the field to itself until the 17th. But there is a rumour of a U-turn to July 3 that is catching on. If they go with it, the spy thriller will have a clear path from the 3rd to the 17th.
Only if. Should Dhamaal 4 make the 10th its home, then the open space for Alpha shrinks. For the time being, the industry is on hold. We are yet to see the final say on who gets first dibs on the pre-Odyssey slot.
The crowded early-July slate
Assuming this reshuffle is for real, July is going to be a lot. You have Dhamaal 4 on the 10th and maybe Alpha on the 3rd. And don’t forget June is no slouch, with Welcome to the Jungle on the 26th and Cocktail 2 on the 19th.
For those of us in the audience, it’s a month of options. For the producers, it is a game of chess; one date can make or break your opening and the kind of buzz you get in the weeks after.
Here is the lay of the land:
– Dhamaal 4 is on for July 10, 2026
– Some are putting Alpha on July 3, 2026
– Two big ones in June
– Still waiting on the studio to put pen to paper
Inside the Dhamaal universe
Indra Kumar is at the helm for the fourth one, reuniting Ajay Devgn with the likes of Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh and Jaaved Jaaferi. You will also spot Sanjay Mishra, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Anjali Anand, Upendra Limaye, Vijay Patkar and Ravi Kishan in the mix.
It has been a while since 2007’s original with Sanjay Dutt and the rest. Then came Double Dhamaal in 2011 with Mallika and Kangana. Total Dhamaal in 2019 was a different animal, with Ajay, Anil and Madhuri in tow, though we did not see Ashish or Sanjay back for that one.
What to watch next
It comes down to who makes the first move. Let’s say Dhamaal 4 is firm on the 10th and Alpha is on the 3rd; they will both have some room to run before The Odyssey shows up on the 17th. Clarity is expected in short order, so keep an eye out for the official word.
