Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan Criticizes Rahul Gandhi, Labels Congress as BJP’s ‘B-team’

Pinarayi Vijayan, the Chief Minister of Kerala, has been very critical of Rahul Gandhi. Vijayan says Gandhi doesn't seem to learn from his mistakes and calls Congress the 'B-team' of the BJP. He's saying this because tensions are high in Kerala as the state gets ready for its legislative assembly elections, and Vijayan wants people to doubt how trustworthy Congress is.

Vijayan said Gandhi, even though he’s known nationally, doesn’t have the basic understanding of how things work with a local political party in Kerala. Gandhi won’t learn from past failures, Vijayan added, and has gone from a leader who was respected to someone Vijayan hardly recognizes anymore.

Kerala Chief Minister’s Critique of Rahul Gandhi

Vijayan also claims Congress has been taking the same side as the BJP instead of forming its own opinions. Calling Congress the ‘B-team’ is meant to show that Congress is working with, or helping, the BJP, and isn’t a true opponent.

Kerala’s assembly elections will happen all at once on April 9th, votes will be counted on May 4th, and the current legislative assembly’s term ends May 23rd. All the different groups of parties trying to get votes are now speaking much more strongly to each other, and trying to convince voters who haven’t decided yet.

Context: Kerala Assembly Elections and Campaign Claims

Rahul Gandhi, speaking to the UDF campaign from Kozhikode via video call, has accused both the Left Democratic Front (the current government) and the BJP of secretly working together. He says the Left Democratic Front has not kept their promise to create 40 lakh jobs in the state and has not generally fulfilled its commitments to the people.

Vijayan has denied the Left Democratic Front and the BJP have any secret deal, and he’s questioned Gandhi’s judgement. He points to past situations where Gandhi went after other important national politicians but didn’t get lasting results. He thinks Gandhi’s complaints are for political reasons and don’t show a good grasp of the actual problems in Kerala.

Responses on Allegations of LDF-BJP Partnership and Enforcement Actions

The Chief Minister also talked about a problem with a BJP symbol appearing on a circular from the Election Commission. He called this a very serious error, and criticized the police for sending notices to people who brought it up on social media. He wants a full, open investigation and for those in charge of the election to be held responsible.

Vijayan is using his words to get voters to think about how trustworthy and independent Congress is. When you call an opponent a ‘helper’ to their main enemy, it’s a way of getting your own supporters to stick with you and to mess up the message Congress is trying to get across before people vote.

Political Implications Ahead of Voting

Gandhi, with his talk about broken promises on jobs, is trying to show how badly the government is performing and get the support of young people who are out of work. Whether people see Congress as a real challenger or as accidentally helping the BJP will affect how many votes each party gets in the region and how the groups of parties work together on April t9th.

Vijayan also strongly criticized making personal attacks against a female politician. He said this kind of behavior comes from a ‘twisted way of thinking’ and said all parties should be respectful in public arguments. He believes criticism of someone’s politics shouldn’t turn into rude and insulting comments, particularly about women in political life.

Calls for Dignity and Institutional Accountability

Regarding the Election Commission and how things are run, he asked them to look into the error with the circular and how the police reacted. Vijayan said that being able to criticize freely and having a transparent investigation are necessary for a good democracy, and we need clear answers before voting begins.

The argument between Pinarayi Vijayan and Rahul Gandhi shows a bigger struggle over what story is being told, who is responsible for what, and how much the people of Kerala trust the politicians. As the campaign gets more intense, what’s being said about job creation, the alleged partnership, and the mistakes made by official bodies will likely be the main topics of discussion and will probably influence how people vote before April t9th.
