If you were on socials, you saw it: Dua Lipa has made a town hall wedding a front-page story. The pop star put on a cool-bride clinic when she wed British actor Callum Turner in London, and the photos of her in a sharp blazer and diamonds have been making the rounds ever since.
A new kind of bridal
Forget the standard gown. Lipa went with something from the house of Schiaparelli, a custom-made piece. It was all in the details: a well-fitted blazer and skirt with the brand’s oddball gold buttons, a bit of a plunge, some structure to the hips and a hemline with a little high-low flair as she made her way down the steps.
Then there was the hat – a white, wide-brimmed number with a tan under-side to it, sitting atop some loose, shiny waves. For jewellery, she let a Bvlgari Serpenti in diamonds do the talking at her collar, and put in some effort with sheer satin gloves, a pair of Louboutins and a few understated diamond studs.
Vows and a make-out-of-it exit
They made a point of keeping things hush-hush for the civil side of things at the town hall. Word is the whole thing was over in 30 or 40 minutes, and only those closest to them were there to see it.
But once they were done with the formalities, the party started. There was confetti and handshakes before the couple hopped into an old-fashioned black cab. Turner was in his element in a no-nonsense navy double-breasted suit, dark tie and a good pair of shoes.
How they got here
You’ve been watching this one for a while. They were first seen as a pair back in January 2024 and by June 2025 they were engaged. “We had been in each other’s lives for years,” she said in a chat with British Vogue, and they have been around the world together since.
The rest of the story
What we saw in London was just the opening act. A three-day shindig is on the cards in Sicily. Some are putting Villa Valguarnera or the Igiea on the table, and you can bet the list will have names like Elton John, Charli XCX, Mark Ronson and Donatella Versace on it.
The run-down:
– Where: Old Marylebone Town Hall, London
– How long: 30 to 40 minutes
– The outfit: a made-to-measure Schiaparelli set with the gold hardware
– The piece de resistance: a Bvlgari Serpenti
– Up next: the big one in Palermo
What it means for the rest of us
Lipa has a way of redefining what a celebrity bride should be in 2026. This was power and glamour in equal measure. You get the edge of the runway in a blazer and skirt, and then the Serpenti for a touch of high fashion that a veil never could.
It wasn’t just a moment; it changed the conversation. You can have a civil ceremony and still make an impression, and a suit can be as much a part of the nuptials as any tulle. If you’re in the market for a modern wedding, this is where you start.
